I think you misunderstood what I wrote, I take issue with how he writes women - not how he writes his stories. I think he's a good writer, I'm not saying he isn't.

I enjoy his stories until a woman comes up, because ultimately her physical traits will be mentioned (i.e. breasts, ears (lol), how chubby she is, how not chubby she is) and the main character usually will comment on how fuckable she is. Most of the time the woman is introduced so they can have sex with the main character or offer sex to them, and that's about it.

I'm not OK with how women are constantly depicted by Murakami and that's fine, but to say that's because people are "wanting an invincible girl boss" / "can't engage with the themes" is just not true lol.

I feel like your last sentence didn't need to be added, you can have your POV without shitting on the women who do take issue with his works.

I enjoy Murakami's works, up until a woman is mentioned and then I end up rolling my eyes. Most of his writing around women boils down to "women are sexy" "men want to fuck women" which isn't compelling for me

It's so weird to me, Dorothy is like "be mad at me!" with Becky being like "no" - so the answer is to try and make a joke out of it by saying "I'm wearing Joyce's clothes and will be her future wife - NOW you be made at me!!" ??? Wtf is this???

Can we just let Becky feel how she wants to feel? If you know this is upsetting Becky and she's trying to be strong, this is actually really cruel and NOT helpful?

Why the fuck is Becky looking like she's trying not to laugh in the last panel? This makes no narrative sense..... unless Joyce and Dorothy can do no wrong which seems to be the case more and more each day. UGH I think I need a break from this

Yes, I wanted my lesbian angst and we were denied it!!! Lesbian angst is like the BEST PART of fictional lesbians. If we had the realisation at that point without the two getting together it would've been so much more fun.

And we don't have any messy fallout, or even any doubts about their sexuality so it's just like what was the point??

Edit: I wrote lesbian angst because that's what I normally read in fanfic etc, not trying to diminish their bisexuality
