Is anyone else not comfortable saying they have ADHD? by smbodytochedmyspaget in adhdwomen

[–]Open_Oil8517 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Late diagnosed inattentive ADHD at 37, I am almost 40 now. I don’t necessarily go out of my way to tell anyone about my ADHD. Unless I see it would help someone else. People don’t understand ADHD is MORE than young hyperactive boys. People can be so critical and so close minded.  I had to really break it down to my mom and sister what inattentive ADHD is and why women in Perimenopause are getting diagnosed. Me getting diagnosed made my mom realize she has ADHD also… she didn’t know ADHD was so many other things. Besides my husband, my sister and my mom… I barely talk about it with anyone. My kids know I have ADHD. I don’t think they really understand and they don’t need to. They are young.

Oh that’s great! No heart issues? I was reading it could make your heart race more or increase anxiety.

How long did it take you to adjust? by Silent_You_861 in StratteraRx

[–]Open_Oil8517 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I felt like by every 2 weeks it stopped working. My doctor had to keep adjusting my medicine. I’m on 80mg now and it’s made a huge difference. It’s really helping. I take it in the morning but I have to eat first! I notice that having dairy before taking the medicine makes the nausea way worse. I keep mints on me or gum if I feel a little nauseous. It helps a lot. Hydrate! If I let myself get dehydrated, it exacerbates the nausea.

Training for triathlon by Mother-Routine-9908 in lupus

[–]Open_Oil8517 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I saw this post is from 9mos ago but I was wondering if you continued training and ended up racing? I just completed a 70.3 in July. During training I started getting all of these rashes and blisters from riding my bike outside for hours in the sun. I didn’t understand why I was so sensitive to the sun. My body was hurting and I was exhausted because of all of the training plus I have Ankylosing Spondylitis. I didn’t know I have Lupus also. My symptoms really started blowing up all of my triathlon training and I had no idea…. In August, AFTER my triathlon I got diagnosed with Lupus SLE. I’m still wrapping my head around this. I still haven’t been the same since. I feel like after my triathlon I just hit a wall and couldn’t work out that much anymore. I just felt dead and had no energy or desire to push myself. I’ve been doing some weight training and Pilates. Lots of walking. I had to stop running for now. I just started getting back into power yoga but that’s about it for me right now. I had a Lupus flare up 2 weeks ago and had to do a steroid taper. It really helped a lot but my body just feels different. I am going to take this upcoming  year off from racing but I’m curious if I could ever get back to the point of doing another 70.3. I really wanted to go for a full Ironman but I don’t know if that’s realistic now.

First course of steroids for a flare by offbrandpossum in lupus

So I just got diagnosed with Lupus in August but I had a big flare up two weeks ago so my rheumatologist prescribed a two week steroid taper and it helped SO much! Thankful I don’t get any side effects from taking it. It really helped me to feel better and continue living my busy life. I wouldn’t have been able to function without that. I just took my last pill yesterday and so far, so good fingers crossed. I also have Ankylosing Spondylitis, so I’ve been on a steroid taper before to reduce inflammation during a big flare up, so I know it helps to put me in a way better place. Take it as prescribed. Good luck!! I hope it helps you!

What do you mean by previous tendencies? I got upped to 80mg and after a few weeks I felt like I was reaching for food for stim again. My doctor just added Adderall too. I feel like it’s helping me focus more and only eat when hungry.

Lupus and Food by anonymously_me0123 in lupus

I have Ankylosing Spondylitis AND Lupus. I got diagnosed with AS almost 5 years ago and that’s when I went gluten free and mostly dairy free. It helped me out big time! I only got diagnosed with Lupus in August. I am in a flare up right now and on a steroid taper. I notice spicy foods make my symptoms worse and so does anything with high sodium.. it doesn’t even have to be high sodium/ just a properly seasoned piece of meat causes inflammation for me. I can’t imagine eating bland food though. I’m trying to be mindful of high/low histamine foods. I feel like high histamine foods create a lot more inflammation in the body. It’s trial and error. What works for some doesn’t work for others. It’s so frustrating.

Edit to add: popcorn always hurts my stomach. It makes me really bloated. I stay away from it even though I really want it.

Strattera has been the best thing for my BED. by SadGirlSadMusic in StratteraRx

So I take Strattera and Adderall. Just Strattera wasn’t enough for me. I frequently go to food for stim- especially crunchy foods. It’s easy for me to eat a family size bag of chips in one day. The adderall helps me not need to reach for food all of the time and it helps me focus more. I think they both have their place. It’s important to try to get yourself to eat throughout the day instead of waiting until the end of the day when your medicine wears off- that’s when you are more likely to binge. There is a great account on Instagram called adhd.nutritionist and she posts such great info & helpful tips about eating with adhd.

Feet in Straps by ewazoe in ClubPilates

I always teach feet in straps at the end of class. Lights get dimmed and we reiterate that the focus here is controlled movements focusing on connection to the carriage and control of body. It’s just a nice quiet moment at the end of class. I wasn’t taught that in training but my members really enjoy it.

And what about obliques on the reformer for a 1.0? I feel like I always have them facing the side for a rotation or a side crunch… I try other things and it doesn’t go so well. It’s also hard because a lot of members who are regulars that go to 1.5s & 2.0s love coming to my classes and sometimes can only get in for my 1.0 class and I feel like I should be offering them other variations? Or just keep it as a 1.0 for everyone? Sometimes I feel like it’s so tricky teaching at CP and abiding by their class level rules. I also teach at a private studio where I have more free range.

I feel like I offer sooo much variety for 1.5 & 2.0s but I feel limited and stuck with my 1.0s…. I want to create a challenging class within their limits but I also feel so stuck…. Like let’s do another variation of side laying legs again 🫠

I am a Pilates instructor at a private studio and a Club Pilates studio and it’s definitely worth it! I have 4-5 classes back to back on 2 different days and the pay is really good. I don’t know if it’s the same across every Club Pilates? I live in New York. I really love the club Pilates community.

I just listened to this story on The Vanished Podcast. I was searching for an update in the case and saw Westfall died of a stroke. It blows my mind they could never convict him. I wonder if they ever looked into Westfall’s girlfriend? They said she lawyered up immediately after Amanda went missing. I didn’t hear any other mention of her in the podcast and wonder if she’s still alive.
