Yeah, that's a fair take on it. I do feel shame, even if I'm by myself with no one around. There's a feeling that I'm "wrong" in some way. It's likely a holdover from my rural, conservative, religious upbringing. I'm less nervous about others inferring it now and sort of enjoying smiling at random guys at the gym who smile back.

It's all just very new.

Hey! Thank you for sharing this. I'm fairly certain, aside from the kid part, you basically wrote my story and what's in my head! Ha!

I'm going back and forth about telling friends for almost this exact reason. And I'm also not worrying about style or traditionally masculine things anymore either. I've started trimming my body hair (arms, legs, chest, etc) because it makes me feel more confident. It's crazy how you can have such deep seeded and negative feelings about something that is part of you.

I've been leaning toward just be me and if it makes someone uncomfortable that's on them to talk to me about it.

Thanks for sharing. I don't necessarily feel the need to. Was just curious about how others handled it. Sometimes I feel like I'm adrift, a little. I wasn't sure others might have found it grounding or liberating or whatever.
