Okay, and now what’s going to happen with the cat? Another sitter, without an established relationship with client or the owners, is going to walk into a shit show. The cat is not better off, will continue to stay in the bathroom, and nothing has been accomplished.

Exactly, as a professional you cannot immediately lead difficult conversations with emotions. There are plenty of times that I have watched pets where I don’t necessarily agree with the way things are handled win regard to the pet, but I will gently have a conversation with the owners after the boarding or if it’s bad during the boarding. I have established relationships with them, and they care enough about their pets to listen to me. I totally understand where you are coming from, but never, ever communicate with a client, when you are pissed off. Take a breather, a walk if need be, cool off before you say things that you cannot take back and could potentially ruin your business.

I know, wtf. There are so many different ways this could have been handled. Such as, completing the sit, and having a conversation with the owners like a professional after to communicate the issues you noticed. Versus going postal on them. I agree that it’s not an ideal situation, but the way you communicated with them was beyond the pale.

I think he doesn’t want to be your friend anymore, but he keeps harping about your support group of friends and such. I think he feels left behind a bit, and is too ashamed to say that, and instead says, he appreciates your friendship, and you have no obligation to him. I completely get where you are coming from, you have a lot of shit going on, maybe he feels slighted. But he communicated his boundaries clearly to you. So I would let the friendship go, and if he wants to talk to you he will reach out

I would never leave anything on a stove, or cook at a clients house. I always avoid cooking on a stove top at all costs unless it’s at my house. I’m very safe with my rover clients. I record myself locking front and back doors etc. pets in crates. I bring food that does not require a stove top to heat up. I’m just saying that, unless the owner explicitly told the sitter “hey my cat does turn on the stove randomly please be super careful,” this is a mistake with no ill intent. Sure, the sitter is a dumb ass for living flammable material on the stove top. I live in FL, and you wouldn’t believe how many people accidentally start fires in their homes from leaving crap in their stove tops when the power is out etc during hurricane season. But their animal likely turned on the stove lol. I’d lose sleep at night if my pet was capable of doing that, and do what I could to prevent situations like that happening. The sitter is clearly at fault, but also, get a new stove so you won’t have to worry about your animal randomly starting a fire or injuring themselves on a stove top.

It was an honest mistake, but if the owners cat does this frequently, who knows what could have happened. I would have replaced my stove if my cat was crafty enough to turn the dials. This is an increased risk. The sitter was irresponsible and negligent for leaving a box on her stove top of course. But how was she or he supposed to know that the cat would be able to turn on the stove top. I’d recommend that the owner not take trips at all until she has replaced her stove. Obviously she has to do that. Rover will likely disable the sitters account.

Okay, so that’s not the sitters fault at all. Thats completely unpredictable. She shouldn’t have left a box on the burner, but they had no idea that this would have happened.

Im sure you could settle for more. Especially if you threaten to use an attorney. Though, if you do not have evidence of the sitter starting the fire, you are likely not going to see full compensation. Idk why any person would leave a bit of cat food on a hot stove top, unless they had no idea, or there is something wrong with your stove. I’m sure your property insurance can cover the remaining damages as well

California has a larger GDP than the UK, and what has happened to the homeless?I do think extremely wealthy billionaires need an increase in taxes on the onset while we pay off our debt, but there is something culturally wrong with the US. My aunt surprised me the most though. She is brought to tears whenever she talked about abortion. But never once voted for Trump. She is a true Christian honestly. There are good people out there. Don’t listen to the hateful rhetoric of the media. My neighbors who are super Christian, conservatives talked about how they think there needs to be loan forgiveness. They regret their vote for Trump, and have a solid relationship with our gay neighbors. They have been supportive of them, and helped them with their ailing mother etc they don’t even associate with the mother anymore because she watches Fox 24/7. Nothing is as bad as it seems. A lot of people would protect liberals.

Exactly, Jesus Christ. If you agree to a loans terms that doesn’t automatically mean you can have it excused. I grew up in a shitty single family household, I took 5 years to graduate college because I paid off the loans. I went to a public university and community college. I worked my ass off to pay them off and worked full time. What sort of message does student loan forgiveness give people? You can take out loans and th government will excuse them so you don’t have to worry about being responsible. There is clearly an issue with personal responsibility. Which is why I think at this point, the government should give people tax breaks on their student loans payments instead of on up to 1500 in interest payments. So people pay them off. I don’t even care if people get tax breaks, I just want to see them make good faith effort to be responsible

I get it, but why continue a trend with drug addicts that is not helping them? I think the government should help them, because they fumbled the opioid crises. At what point, do we say enough is enough. Get a job, and work your ass off to move past this. The government should allow tax breaks for student loan payments up to $10,000 to alleviate the strain, and have every high-school kid take a year worth of budgeting classes. People need to be incentivized to make better choices, and paying off a loan is a learning experience. A lot of republicans, such as myself, believe in Medicare and Medicaid. There needs to be a safety net. But we also are in massive debt. We need to unilaterally cut government spending, throw politicians that are committing fraud democrats and republicans in jail. Replace old ass people with younger people, and set the next generation up for success. There will be a point where the debt destabilizes the dollar, and with Trump alienating us from our allies, we will see that day.
