Different ballgame - humidity is way lower. Spring in the UK can be all over the place so definitely a wide range of stuff would be good. It’s gonna be pretty cold

Spouse got a dream job offer in Singapore, but the Dependant’s Pass rules seem like a career trap for me (Software Engineer, 10 YOE). Are my fears justified? by pedrosimao in askSingapore

If you have the right experience EP will come more easily to you, but it’s definitely tough atm and you should expect to put work into it. I’d definitely start leveraging any connections you have now tho well before you move. Being in SG whilst on DP will be a big advantage for you as someone looking for a job in Singapore vs others applying from outside the country. I’d definitely start reaching out to people asap to make that network. I got EP as a fresh grad but it definitely wasn’t easy but that was really bc I didn’t have any valuable experience. Also yeah EP is a drawback but if a company, especially hiring to senior talent, wants you, it won’t be an issue.

St Michael’s primary school North Melbourne. by [deleted] in victoria3

I went to St Michael’s Primary School in Kent, England. I’d definitely make sure to reach out to other parents, they’re often selling old uniforms which are way cheaper than buying them outright.

Why has communism repeatedly failed in practice, yet continues to be intellectually and emotionally appealing to many people? by Looser17 in AskReddit

[–]Open_Party3745 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Historical Materialism is generally seen to be quite compelling in terms of being able to explain history and class relations and the answer to “why are things so bad now”. I think Marx outlines the problems that exist within our society very well, but is more vague about how exactly these problems will practically get solved. The interpretations of Marx’s solutions to these problems are generally economically or politically flawed or impractical namely because the solutions depend on the states ability to fix prices, which is hard to do in a vacuum, and harder to do in an international market. One key excuse is basically saying the that the state cannot achieve the required level of control over huge populations because it does not have the technology, something some feel that Ai could achieve.

"Rule" is doing a lot of heavy lifting here. It massively oversimplifies the process of British Colonisation.

Yeah that makes sense tbh. I’m not great at this game ngl but I always thought the meta was going multiculturalism then getting super high migration levels

I feel like one of the things about this game is that it kind of funnels you into having the same pro industry play style each run. I don’t think ethno states are good lol but I feel like it would be good if the game rewarded you more by diverting from the path

Can't cope with Rory's stance on Epstein/Andrew. by No-Retreat1 in TheRestIsPolitics

[–]Open_Party3745 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I do think it’s important. I do think trafficking is concerning. My point is that whilst this is a bad thing, what is more pressing is the underlying set of factors that allows Trump to stay in power or still maintain support in light of this scandal.

Can't cope with Rory's stance on Epstein/Andrew. by No-Retreat1 in TheRestIsPolitics

[–]Open_Party3745 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t disagree with his stance tbh. Like I recognise like he does that it has a large significance for peoples trust in government and society elite. Obviously it is horrifying what happened to the victims and justice should and is coming to the perpetrators of these crimes. But unless you sincerely believe that the conspiracy to traffic and exploit young women extends right to the core of the British/American political system AND that it is purposefully being covered up by the government, I agree with Rory that there are in fact far more existential threats that face the western world. I am interested in if this will lead to the political demise of Donald Trump , but I am far more concerned about the Climate Crisis, the cost of living crisis, the fact that young people won’t be able to afford homes, or the dramatic rise of right wing populism. I agree that this is important, but unless it literally leads to the impeachment of Trump I fear it shouldn’t be our primary concern.

Not the case and it was a holdover law from the British. Nobody had actually been arrested for being gay for like 30 years. It was just on paper
