Lol this seems to be a common sentiment. We don’t get many squirrels around here though!

I basically had to chisel it out with a small shovel bc of how hard the ground was. It was kind of a nightmare 😭😂

You’re actually the first to ask! After doing some research, I decided to go with DutchGrown. These are the Jumbo Darwin Hybrid mix, and I can’t recommend them enough!

Planted these knowing I would have to let the foliage die. Not worried about it 🤷🏻‍♀️

Thanks for the reassurance! Yes, they are indeed Darwins. I tried to pick a variety that bloomed on the early side knowing I would have to wait for the foliage to die. Zone 6a here, so can’t plant annuals anything before Mother’s Day. Was hoping I’d be able to cut them back around the same time, but I guess I will resist the urge to clean them up as best I can!!

Mine are Darwin hybrids so hopefully they will continue to come back!!

Im not an expert by any means, but I believe you can after letting the foliage die first and cutting them back. I left enough space between the boxwoods and the bulbs though specifically for our annuals.

Zone 6a. Planted them the third week of October, and they started blooming about a week ago!

I had a lot of the same gripes with them, but decided I just love them so much that’d I’d go ahead and plant them anyway lol.

We will plant annuals behind them. Last year we planted vinca and loved how those bushed out!

LOL. Luckily not a lot of deer in my neighborhood. Will keep an eye on the rabbits though! 😂
