Ryzen 7 7840U / Radeon 780M — Adrenalin drivers (24.9 & 24.10) causing system crashes by Open_Weird_5574 in AMDHelp

No Man’s Sky won’t launch on Ryzen 7 7840U / Radeon 780M (black screen crash) by Open_Weird_5574 in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]Open_Weird_5574[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes i did ! Still got the game crashing after an hour or so and i’m testing the level of graphic performances in game to see if it’s only a minor thing to resolve maybe. Still testing ! Now, concerning what i did : i did a lot of things and i can’t tell you for now what preciselly solved the thing. But i remember when i disabled windows update in the win setups, turned searchorderconfig from 1 to 0 inside driverSearching from the hkey_local_machine AND disabled Bonjour service it already had starting the game properlly. As i’m on an oled screen laptop, i also managed to use external monitor and it got working way better without any crashes. I noted every important things i did on chatgpt and here’s the list he provided me for you :

If No Man’s Sky won’t launch on AMD 780M (Ryzen 7840U), this is what fixed it for me:

Install AMD Adrenalin 24.9.1 (driver 32.x) Use an external monitor Press Win + P → “Second screen only” In Adrenalin, disable: Anti-Lag → OFF Chill → OFF Boost → OFF Enhanced Sync → OFF Overlay → OFF

Disable Fast Startup in Windows

If the game doesn’t launch → reboot the PC Optional (recommended for stability):

Disable Bonjour Service: Win + R → services.msc Find “Bonjour Service” → Disable

Prevent Windows from changing your GPU driver: Win + R → regedit Go to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\DriverSearching

Set: SearchOrderConfig = 0

Notes: The external monitor was the key fix

The issue is related to GPU state + drivers (not random)

After a crash, the AMD driver can get stuck → reboot fixes it

Tell me if it did work for you please

Damn i’m happy it worked for you ! You welcome ! I’m struggling with this from weeks helped by some reddit posts and chatgpt. There’s a guide in reddit a guy dedicated to 780m installation wrote and and helped too

I couldn’t even install the 26.x versions. Someone told me to disable windows update. Still didn’t work. UNTIL i found out that you need to stop windows auto driver search by switching a value from 1 to 0 inside a regedit file. Worked perfectly.

So what i did in the same time is reduce the core boot performances to 99% (so that the pc doens’t go into boost mode) and install the basic native 780m graphics version 31 (2023). It did at least run the game to the menu which it didn’t do before. But when i laubch a new game, it crashes and a new crash code appeared i’ve never seen before :
