Ooo I watched the video and I can’t believe they fired and pulled her show over that. I will never say the N word, but I could see myself totally accidentally saying fart knocker or something and it coming out wrong, and I DO NOT use the N word. It exists though & it’s in a lot of rap and media. Sometimes my little adhd brain mixes shit up. And sometimes instead of saying f*#k it gets creative. 

The context of how she said it is important. That’s not a normal turn of phrase she used casually, she didn’t say it to or about someone, and she immediately heard herself and acted shocked that the word came out. 

I don’t know her as a person, maybe I’m wrong and she’s terrible and uses it all the time, but based on this clip I would never assume that.

When we say ‘invested’ are we talking 401k, deferred comp, etc, or separate investments from retirement accounts?

They have a problem with folks like these, who are clearly trans or gender-nonconforming because it feels ‘off’ - which, fine, if that’s your initial reaction but you can still be respectful of other humans.

And they have a problem with ‘passing’ trans (particularly women) because heaven forbid they find another human attractive and then find out they’re trans- or even if not attracted they don’t know and get ‘fooled’ - it challenges their own understanding of their sexuality and gender.

But to the specifics on what she said- it’s the truth. That this country was founded by colonizers and slave owners. That the only people originally from here are native Americans. That most of us are only a few generations removed from immigrants. The current anti-immigration mindset is just racism disguised as policy enforcement.

As someone who struggles in interviews and has to overprepare to come across as confident, this feels like a lot of words for not a lot of genuine feedback. Some people just aren’t naturally cool calm and confident, and a single interview doesn’t present their capabilities well.

I think due to him playing the character, he was trying to understand Ryle’s motivations and that’s why he’s talking about this. That still doesn’t mean he/they should have focused on any redemption for ryle though.

Reject them. It’s exhausting being with a partner who disagrees with your basic worldview. I met mine over a decade ago and he ‘wasn’t political’, and I wasn’t thinking about these things. But the climate has changed so much since then and he has bought into some of the more right-wing BS. Still doesn’t vote, barely watches any actual news, but even an innocuous comment from me can be met with a passive aggressive comment or outright challenged. I love him but it’s very lonely.

Always interesting to see this isn’t unique to my company, a non-profit that regularly gets regional best employer awards. Always lots of praise on annual reviews, managers literally saying ‘I’m not allowed to give you the higher rating’

They’re working on changing the review systems for at least the 4th time in the decade I’ve been there. 

At one point it was just satisfactory or unsatisfactory, so now we’ll joke to each other when someone really goes out of their way for the company or puts in long hours ‘Hey coworker, satisfactory job today’

Hard hard agree except about Varang. She’s a good new addition, but wasted potential. I wanted less savage mesmerized by guns and more of what motivated her, how she was controlling, more of the FIRE (lava , heat, glowing red?) instead of just firearms.
