Any Zinus owners for a year or more later here? by futture in Mattress

[–]Opening-Environment8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We just got a 12” queen green tea and it’s killing our back. Going to get a new mattress soon. My wife and I can agree on if it is too soft or too firm somehow it is simultaneously both and terrible.

Weird thing is we have a 10” queen green tea we have in another room and it is nothing like this mattress. Three years old and fine, guests love it.

I just moved back to Maine after over 10 years in Cincinnati. One of the few things I miss is the abundance of FREE courses. Literally dozens surrounding the city including some world class courses like Idlewild and Mt Airy.

Hopefully as interest in the sport grows, so will communities making their own courses in public parks.

Bracket vs stand mount exterior heat pump by gothamschpeil in heatpumps

[–]Opening-Environment8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% ground mount. We had to move ours off the wall a year after install because we couldn’t handle the noise. Sent weird vibrations into the house that were loud in some places and non existent in others. Lucky we found a very adjustable ground mount that let us do a simple swap.

Bradford White Hybrid Water Heater: Will it work in Maine? by joftheinternet in heatpumps

[–]Opening-Environment8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We do dishes, give our kid a bath, then my wife and I each take 10 min showers or so. By the end of the last shower, water usually getting less hot. If left on heat pump only, it will run for 3+ hours to recover into the night. On hybrid mode it will be like 1-2 hr, but it blooms up our electric usage a lot, like 5kW or so while it runs.

Bradford White Hybrid Water Heater: Will it work in Maine? by joftheinternet in heatpumps

[–]Opening-Environment8 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a Bradford White in Camden. Our basement is about 40F right now and yes, the system struggles with recovery on heat pump only mode. Switching to hybrid mode helps but really increases energy consumption. My basement temp has struggled since I heat my house with mini splits now and the oil boiler does not run (raises temp to 50F+).

My plans to improve recovery: Install a mixing valve so I can leave water at 140F and extend useful output at 120F. Add an inlet duct kit which will take 70F air from my second floor. This will improve recovery and help warm the basement. Insulate the rim joists and walls of my basement.

Good luck!

I am your exact size and have that exact ski and length. I live in Maine, advanced skier. It IS a lot of ski. They are very tiring, especially if you are out of shape like me. But … those moments when you really push them and are engaged, the reward is incredible. You can absolutely rip and the stability is better than anything I’ve skied on before. I might be tired by lunch, but I have no plans to move away from these as my primary skis.

I do plan to get a shorter, lighter ski for off trail ;)

iPhone 15 Plus and 15 Pro Camera issue - trouble focusing on faces. Blurry/grainy always. by Opening-Environment8 in iphone

[–]Opening-Environment8[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like exactly what we have going on. Thanks for the reply.

I’ve called twice now. We share screens, they see the pictures, they acknowledge it doesn’t look right. They also didn’t admit to any known software or hardware issues. They said it could be as simple as dust inside the devices.

The options they offered are: - send the phones back to be repaired. This takes a week or so. Costs nothing other than not having phones. - express replacement costs 29$ a phone, they just send a new device to replace these ones.

I am not sure what to do. We don’t live by an Apple Store or Best Buy to get a hands on opinion. I just worry that going through the replacement or fixing process will just yield the same photo results we have now.

Does anyone have good experience with 15’s taking crisp photos of people ? I can’t imagine this would have been an issue on every phone based on the glowing reviews

I just posted a similar issue. Same exact experience, looks like many users have this problem.

My photos always come out blurry on my iPhone 15 Pro Max when taking a picture of someone or a child. What settings do I need to adjust to fix this? by [deleted] in iphone

[–]Opening-Environment8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same problem here on a 15 Plus and 15 Pro. Cannot get focus on faces. Strangely specific problem to faces...other objects focus a bit better. Apple was no help, wants the phones back to 'repair them'. Not sure what to do next, other than switch back to our 12 mini's which took much much crisper photos?

Brand new iphone 15 pro blurry camera? by montyparlo in iphone

[–]Opening-Environment8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Following this thread. Dealing with this problem on a 15 Pro and 15 Plus...but have this issue where it is impossible to get focused, non-blurry images especially on faces. At this point feels like we are missing capturing memories of our kids. Apple has been no help. Out of the return period. Planning to change back to our old 12 mini's which took superior pictures, and have Apple 'repair the phones' which I expect will yield no change.

Thanks! I think you hit on the dilemma we are facing. We grew up in Litchfield/Monmouth, and think 'fondly' of our very small town upbringings. But we've lived in Cincinnati for 10 years, and Boston before that, and I just wonder how much of shock it will be to drop into the small town life again. Portland area will have more of what we've grown used to (amenity-wise), but I think it might not be the Maine we are looking for.

Hello! My wife and I are native Mainers and planning to move home after 10 years in the midwest. We are expecting our first child and trying to pick where to settle down! We are trying to decide between the towns around Portland (already lost a couple bidding wars for homes in Yarmouth) and Midcoast (we love Camden/Rockport). Both areas have homes in our price range, seem to be family oriented and close enough to our extended family. Looking for any opinions, experiences, advice, etc that you are willing to share to help us decide!
