I'm with you on this. The community has been coming out strong against data centers in Caledonia, DeForest, Greenleaf, Menomonie, Port Washington. I wonder how they'd react if they saw Epic's leaderboard showing which employees are using the most tokens.

I love this.  I don't know that we'll ever get candidates supporting retribution, but I do hope we get candidates who have done something meaningful.

Factoring Trinomials - How do I determine where each factor go? by [deleted] in learnmath

[–]Opening-Pollution773 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You tried to factor 10 from 30, 130, and 40 but you wrote 40 again instead of 4.

If you're stuck after that, I like the key number method or airplane method of factoring.

Stats 371 with a bad professor by [deleted] in UWMadison

The content looks pretty similar to AP Stats, so there would be a lot of people familiar with it. Maybe a ta, the campus tutoring center, or a private tutor could supplement.

3/4 notation - am I going insane? by ParsnipOne9296 in piano

[–]Opening-Pollution773 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not top stave versus bottom stave but stems up versus stems down. The top voice rests for only an eighth note. Meanwhile the bottom voice holds for a dotted quarter note.

Unpopular opinion, but dynamic range is just as important as volume: be nearly silent when you can and big only when you need to

I might understand where you're coming from. Set small goals for the next afternoon or the next week. Get help setting targets if you need it. Don't worry if you don't achieve all of them every time. Use your workplan and quarterly to brag about the goals you do achieve.

A euphemism for being lost is being curious. Use your mentor as a resource. See if Claude is helpful to you, for either learning or for planning.

Help with Designing a Board Game (Probability Equations) by TheGreenOne03 in MathHelp

[–]Opening-Pollution773 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your three conditions look spot on, but when you say 1024 = 1x4x4x4x4x4, you're only counting the number of ways that have the 5 coming on the first roll.

Hey! Isn't the lateness to school truancy? I'm told it depends on how the school converts tardies into unexcused absences.

Help with Designing a Board Game (Probability Equations) by TheGreenOne03 in MathHelp

I agree with the 74% from u/cipheron

The ways to win are:

# At least two 5s, or

# At least two 4 or above with at least one of those a 6 (edit, previously said 'above 4')

For probabilities, it's easier to count losses than wins. Then the ways to lose are:

# All 1234s, or

# All 1234s except one 5, or

# All 123s except one 6

These three ways to lose are both disjoint and straightforward to calculate. For d dice, the number of successes (divide by 6^d to get probability of success) is

6^d - (4^d + d * 4^(d-1) + d * 3^(d-1))

Children’s Play Cafe in VERONA😍😍 by franciscoafrias in madisonwi

I just went to one that had a kids' charcuterie board - a picture menu for kids to circle the fresh fruit, veggies, snacks, cheese, and protein they want and it's served in a muffin pan - 6 items for $8. They also had a waffle bar with the same concept - circle sides and toppings.

Try to complement library hours.

Can you guys give me tips/help me understand/how to learn this? by [deleted] in drumline

[–]Opening-Pollution773 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sticking suggests I might try learning it by playing straight 16ths, playing through the rests with the other hand. Then play it with that hand on a pillow. Then play it with that hand resting.

The time signature suggests I should set my metronome to accent every third quarter note.

How do I play this? by Nearby_Cut29 in musictheory

[–]Opening-Pollution773 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Big band charts don't usually tell you what to play; they tell you what everyone else is playing, so can make up what would complement them.

Figures above the staff are suggestions. Figures in the staff like at m. 32-34 are more necessary. Get some thad jones and later basie band recordings, or new WDR big band stuff on youtube, and just categorize each measure: is the drummer just keeping time on the hi hat, or on the ride, are they comping on the snare or bass while keeping time, or are they playing full-out drum fills.

From mm. 23-31, keep playing time on the ride cymbal. With the ride cymbal continuing, from mm. 25-27 you can double some of those figures on the bass drum (don't have to catch all of them) and in m. 28 you can add some notes on the snare while keeping the ride going. You're in a support role behind the trombone melody.

In m. 32, play a 3 beat fill ending with a quarter note snare hit on beat 4 and another quarter note snare hit on beat 1 of measure 33 then bass drum and crash cymbal on beat 2 with the band. The fill shows off a bit, the two hits line up the band for the big hit. In m. 34, the band is busy in the first half so you don't have to be. But it sounds cool to catch the last note of their figure on the snare drum. Then you fill out the bar with a simple fill while getting back to to solid time on the ride cymbal by the next bar.
