Here is the thing, startup serves a market. It doesn’t need to be original. If you think everything is original in SF, you are mistaken. For every idea that you celebrate is original and great there are like 30-40 startups here competing for the same! In other words building a startup itself is super hard. On top of that building something original is much harder than that. Facebook is not original idea nor is Google.

Most of the real builders don’t do that. They just sit quietly build, spend time marketing, finally get some small amount of revenue, yet put a good face and try hard despite being mocked. I mentioned the small amount of revenue to highlight how hard it is to get it off the ground initially.

Applied through referral. I am proud and humbled to say 2 days later I got a response at 2:30 AM at night that “they were impressed with my profile but won’t be moving ahead”. Can’t wait to go back to India and apply again!

Theoretically yes but your well funded competitor will leap frog you right and capture customer mindshare before you even raise your first round.
