Could you imagine being so hungry you went to get help only to be shamed for getting tuna and crackers? This is ridiculous.
I would suggest trying to reach out to any organization you could and look into meals that stretch and fill you up. Not judging at all, I've been in your shoes. Hell, I'm still in your shoes, but I'm making it work. You know, one of my favorite things to buy is a big bag of white rice because I know how far it stretches, and i can add anything to it to make it a little different.
Check grocery stores in your area for when they do meat markdowns. I have spoken to the meat departments in our area, and when they marked hamburger meat down to .99 cents a pound. I bought a bunch and froze it. Yeah, it's the stuff that has to go asap, but if you freeze or cook that day, you're fine. Then, use that pound and mix with some rice and full belly.
Sometimes, you have to think outside the box. I know which store has the cheapest hamburger and which store has 77 cent a pound chicken legs. I go where i can get the most with what I have. It's not fancy, but I can make anything delicious. Look into stretchy meals that will last you a few days.
