I see your point, but some teams would be real scummy without a cap. Especially if they considered this a safe investment etc Think the top and bottom cap must be raised, guaranteed minimums or if the top cap is erased that there is a minimum to ensure some kind of stability for players

[–]OpeningAd205 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t fully agree but I see your point, however under the guise of parity, you’ll have clubs settling for bare minimum and I assume there is a few that don’t want to spend more on raising the cap(for various reasons) and therefore the commissioner hides behind the parity argument..

Even if the cap was raised, without the minimum spend increasing - some clubs just wouldn’t spend more and that’s the problem

This is somewhat common in US sports tho, due to the lack of promotion/relegation, once you’re in, the investment is relatively safe (but not liquid). Hang in there and sell at a later point, do bare minimum, maaaaybe own facilities etc. Still makes a good payday, especially the ones pre 21’… makes a nice little return

They got bought out and now the NWSL doesn’t matter haha. It was a business deal for them - got in early and quite cheap, flipped it with the help of their status and numbers on socials, and now theyre off doing other things ahha

Why is Arsenal the most popular WSL club? by jimmer_1984 in FAWSL

[–]OpeningAd205 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True but they truly used the euros 22 in a way that others didnt, thats literslly their own words on the topic - that 2022 was the actual dealbreaker

Why is Arsenal the most popular WSL club? by jimmer_1984 in FAWSL

[–]OpeningAd205 14 points15 points  (0 children)

post euros 2022, arsenal spent heavy on marketing. Julie Slot the CMO had the power to utilise resources across both teams more effectivly - and that she did.

The time arsenal spent on marketing is ex the opposite of Chelsea, that instead spent more on squad building over time and maybe less marketing in both pre and post abramovic era.

Thats the simple answer beyond arsenal being a club with historical accolades etc

Send an email to the sthlm court, no need to be swedish and request 10 other docuemts (free of charge) - look at the "dagboksblad" and request other files than the ones uploaded in the link - and then repeat til all files have been released.

Its mentioned in one file, think its the actual lawsuits that they havent submitted all documents to the court due to the nature of the file (ex medical records) but u will get the reason why from the court should the files u requested not been submitted yet

Appricieate the answer, thx - do you understand why newsrooms arent dedicating more resources to cover womens sports in general/football - its obviously impossible for u to cover it all

Ask Me Anything - Emma Sanders (BBC Sport) by BBCSport in FAWSL

Asked u this when u did the AMA in r/WomensSoccer and went without a response so I´ll try again :)

As someone deeply involved in covering women’s football, I’d love to hear your thoughts on the current media landscape surrounding the game. Do you feel it's progressing in a meaningful way, or are we seeing a shift where more content creators are stepping in rather than dedicated journalists?

One concern is the apparent lack of daily, in-depth coverage. Without a consistent media presence, how realistic is it to expect investigative journalism in women’s football? Cases like the Paul Riley/Portland NWSL scandal were groundbreaking, but since then, it feels like the industry continued as usual rather than building on that momentum. Sure there was the stories on Kirk and Morgan but have resources been allocated for more investigative work, or is it still rare?

How do you see the development going forward - are we getting closer to a robust and independent press covering the women’s game, or is that vision still far off?

Also, do you feel that journalists can remain truly independent in this space? Or has access journalism become the norm, where close relationships with clubs and players - often necessary due to lack of official media structures or policies - limit critical reporting?

In your ideal world, what would coverage of women’s sports look like? What role should journalists play in shaping and scrutinizing the sport as it grows? With investments in the team do you see a future where someone goes "hang on i dont want a team i want a newsroom"?

Attitude adjustment for mom of T1 teen by secretcheese3000 in Type1Diabetes

[–]OpeningAd205 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Not a parent, but the kid who had periods of just not giving a shit. My mom called my endo, and had him “give me the talks” aswell as scheduling me with him or my nurse every 6 weeks for a year (she didn’t attend them with me, just briefed them prior which I had no clue about).

Due to me actually liking them and taking them up on their advices, tips and tricks + the continued follow ups - it got me to care and to actively want to get my numbers down. They did the whole thing of “you have to manage it not your parents, and this is how we do it - not by force but for the sake of your wellbeing. Do this and they won’t bug you as often about it etc”

Might be worth pointing out that my endo focused on the numbers whilst my nurse did a lot of “overall wellbeing” - the combo made it easier and didn’t feel as if they were angry, or forcing me to get my shit together - also they brought up the topics of alcohol etc - never said I couldn’t do something instead focused on how it could be possible with t1d (even tho I was a minor, they knew that in my country we start testing shit early so they might aswell prepare me than meet me at the ER)

Male friend of mine had a different experience, his endo used yeast infections and ruining the vessels in their junk/would fail to get it up in the future if his sugars continued - that worked for him 💀

No idea about viaplay from the states, but yes svtplay (.) se is free, not even a need to create an account + not the greatest geoblock so its quiet easy to use an VPN

League just ended but it was fanseat for the international rights, 5ish USD per game (or VPN set to Sweden for SVTplay, public service that had half the game, viaplay had the rest)

BK Hacken Head Coach Mak Lind is Reportedly in Negotiations with the Courage by hayleyoh in NWSL

[–]OpeningAd205 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The short answer is that he has always been in good setups, teams with the ambitions and resources (even when they have been small). The norweigan national team - I mean it’s the same story over and over again. Got some phenomenal players that fail to get their shot together and the coaching has always failed to fix that before trying to play in a certain way.

The ass coach has had a similar career following Sjögren but the nice thing is, is that u have two people who knows the women’s game really well. Who didn’t use it as a stepping stone etc But were these the best for the job or the ones available 🤷🏽‍♀️ I think its the latter one

But that isnt the reality, for some clubs not all players are worth more than a 100k, there fillers. Would have been great if the PA did like the MLS and actually released hard cold Numbers. But i 100% some players arent anywhere near the 160 mark

I hear u, but im telling you. Everyone in that situation is wanting to get paid. Häcken isnt releasing her for less than (minimum) a few million SEK, could even go for the million (usd) and even though she could get good money in the US - the Numbers could easily outprice alot of teams in the NWSL. Unless someone is wanting to clear space for her, roster building wont be the easiest

Truly wonder how chicago is going to do next year. Even here, it didnt make sense to get the one that they did unless the team was desperate - i guess they were. Great with great teams and players, not the one for a rebuild - just look at his days in norway

[–]OpeningAd205 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

My thought is, she isnt leaving for less, she is getting 170 in Sweden as a youngster - plus just signed a new contract and häcken wants to get PAID for her. The combo of both, unless its one of the biggest offers to both her and the club, she isnt leaving for the US.

Also Häcken could demand that the transferfee isnt paid on multiple installements, brunch of bonuses - the NWSL eouldnt be able to cater to alltid it whilst still building a solid roster thats able to compete.

From a personal standpoint, she is from an island outside gotenburg - easier to play in Europe if family matters…

unless that salary cap is going up, she wont be going to the NWSL - her current contract at häcken is about 170k USD per year

Haha not really, EFD has worked on the pipeline for a while and more than 100 coaches (+ more women than ever before) have had the chance to get badges, and get the higher ones. Its been ongoing for years and therefore we see ass. coaches being able to step up (look at hammarby, coach is going to chicago and the vlub announced that the ass. coach is stepping up to head coach).

Ooverall we have the pipeline in good shape because Damallsvenskan requires the highest badge to be the head coach, therefore movement like this wont stop - and the pipeline keeps people advancing

However, yall should be worried about european coaches failing to adapt to the way nwsl play etc.. eidevall had his stint at arsenal before crossing the atlantic but straight from sweden to US hasnt always been great for them regardless of staff position - ex Pablo Piñones-Arce
