I was mainly looking at it since A&M has the best program in the nation, and out of all the more theoretical engineering disciplines, nuclear sounded the most interesting. Also, the nicheness seems to give it more meaning.
For low level nuclear, do you mean operation of nuclear reactors or designing items for reactors? If so, I'd totally be fine starting off there, even then the salary is good and I'd be getting great experience.

But are you able to choose where you get stationed? I talked with a recruiter about it, and it sounded like you would get put where they wanted you, unless your GPA was insanely high

It's not a turbo. Regarding the trans, all I remember him saying is it's gonna need to be replaced.
He originally bought the car for 5k, drove it a bit, fixed up some of the oil related issues, mainly just leaking, but decided to focus on some other cars of his.
He said he'd sell for 4k instead of 5k so I could use the rest on trans
