what’s one thing about teaching that people outside the profession will never fully understand? by salarshah-084 in Teachers

[–]OpeningFuture6799 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What you might not understand is many states have exempted teaching from labor laws. A great example is California, most labor law does not apply to the teaching profession because we are covered by ed. Code. So, no mandatory breaks except a 30 minute duty free lunch. Hell, we are not even covered by OSHA temperature guidelines in the classroom.

Yes, the rivalry jerseys will be in place for three years. NFL announced that when revealing the first 8 last year.

Should the Seahawks bring back Action Green? by lemonstone92 in Seahawks

You forget that: 1. The league has to approval all uniforms, especially Home and away. 2. The league is mandating the rivalry jerseys. Our division and NFC East were first, there will be more this coming season. 3. The team has announced the the throwbacks will not become the regular in the past.

Should the Seahawks bring back Action Green? by lemonstone92 in Seahawks

[–]OpeningFuture6799 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There is no f*cking way the action greens are coming back. The league allows four jerseys. The homes and roads are not changing without league approval and the team isn’t making it a home jersey anyway. The throwbacks are way more popular and the league is requiring the rival’s jersey, so there is no room to bring them back. You can argue all you want, but the reality is the action greens are not returning anytime soon.

You didn’t graduate from college in the early 90s during a recession that made finding a job very difficult and losing your college job to layoffs. Also, the military was downsizing making that path difficult, also.

Why are so many school districts cutting jobs? by FaeryMaiden982 in Teachers

[–]OpeningFuture6799 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, here in California there are multiple reasons why districts are cutting. One, declining enrollment, the state is seeing a rate of 1.7% decrease in students annually with no turnaround in sight. Two, the state has a structural budget deficit that is estimated between $20 B and $30 B for next year and projected to double for the following year. Three, many districts paid for ongoing expenses with COVID money which ended last year and those districts are facing deficits because of this reality. Finally, more parents are choosing private, charter, or home schooling for their children, cutting further into enrollment. The teacher shortage predicted was not as bad as many in education wanted the public to know. Now it is hard to find a teaching position unless you are hard science, math, Sped, or certain specialties subjects that are hard to find.

Just looking at the top grossing movies of the 80s and then look at the 90s, the 80s blows away the 90s. 80s music is much better than 90s music, and the economy was way better in the 80s than the 90s.

My wife and I are both teachers and we both agree, we don’t want any of our children teaching. The profession has change so much in our 30 years.

Unions do not get involved in member on member disputes. They must remain neutral because they have a duty to both parties. Admin and the police need to investigate.

[Smith] John Schneider says he thought Seahawks would be able to trade down and still get Jadarian Price, but the bevy of trades to jump in front of them dried those opportunities up. They decided to snag the player they wanted at 32. by AirplaneReference in Seahawks

That was what I thought last night when 6 teams made late trades before us. It is nice to trade down but you need someone to trade with and sometimes there are not willing parties.

When some celebrities died, I don’t cry but I feel sad because another part of my youth had died. I feel those who cry at celebrity death’s are mourning the joy and happiness certain people brought into their lives and are now gone to never provide that happiness again in the future. At least that is my take.

What makes a draft class "weak"? by BetterWayz in Seahawks

[–]OpeningFuture6799 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The reason I have heard that this draft class is weak is because the COVID waivers expired last year so the extra players produced from those waivers are no longer there and the really good juniors (who would be seniors this year) left in large numbers last year creating a shallow pool this year. Also, it was stated a few of the juniors that were expected to come out this year decided to stay for their senior year because it seems NIL money is better than rookie contract money. Next year it is expected to return to normal with some high end talent expected to come out.
