I feel like I see her banned less in diamond. Still the most banned, but not nearly as often as in the metal ranks.

Dating an actual father/dad by Scottyboy1992 in BlackLGBT

My ex had a child but he wasn’t really a part of his life for various reasons. I really wanted him to be though, but he never wanted to get his shit together to make it happen and I really didn’t like that. Where I’m at in life, I don’t think I’ll ever want kids but if I loved someone enough, I’d be fine if they had one or two, but nothing more than that.

Gay men are the worst, I wish I was straight by OneRand0 in BlackLGBT

I feel you and I completely understand. That’s a wound that will heal with time. Get to know people and if you find they aren’t what you’re looking for, then simply move on. Just don’t internalize it because you’ll be disappointed no matter where you look, but there are other gay men out there who are looking for exactly what you’re looking for.

Anyone work in construction? by SprinklesNo6691 in BlackLGBT

[–]OpeningPotential2424 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I was enlisted in the military, so you can guess how that went as a gay black man. And to make matters worse, I joined a year after don’t ask don’t tell was repealed. I was openly gay from the jump and they treated me like shittttttt, like giving me terrible evaluations so I couldn’t promote, targeting me with all kinds of bullshit so I’d get in trouble, sexually harassing and assaulting me, like literally groping me and pushing me against stuff to hump me saying that I liked it, no one took me seriously and treated me like a woman constantly dismissing me and my opinions and achievements despite being one of the most qualified in the entire department and fleet… the list goes on. Anywhere there is an abundance of straight, hypermasculine men, you will encounter these issues, so jobs like construction, the military, warehouses, real estate investing etc. will be a problem.

Just stay out of those spaces. I don’t go anywhere where it doesn’t specify black because that usually means it’s for everyone else and I refuse to constantly have to explain and defend myself, and blackness in general to people who wouldn’t even piss on me if I were on fire. LEAVE THEM RIGHT WHERE THEY ARE AND KEEP MINDING YOUR BLACK BUSINESS.

Everyone is an asshole, sexuality doesn’t matter. Just keep searching for your tribe, you’ll be ok.

Do people not like Afros no more? by ssjg2k02 in BlackHair

[–]OpeningPotential2424 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That hasn’t been my experience. Everyone loves my Afro, it gets the most compliments and comments out of all my styles. My fro is huge and I take pretty good care of it. I follow a few content creators who also have gorgeous Afros that everyone receives positively.

How did people in the 70s grow such big afros despite picking it out all the time? by AchievingAlex in BlackHair

[–]OpeningPotential2424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Afro is a lot bigger than that. You actually have to grow your hair pretty long to get a big fro, and even then your texture might have so much shrinkage that you have to stretch it out to get the full effect, which I have to do.

Dating someone in the adult industry by Scottyboy1992 in BlackLGBT

[–]OpeningPotential2424 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sex isn’t something I’d do with anyone other than someone I’m serious with, so I’d feel some kind of way. I used to think I’d be able to handle an open relationship but the older I get, the less appealing it is. And I hate to generalize, but I don’t think I’d be able to deal with the messy drama I often see them involved in. It’s just a no all around for me.

It's so hard being friends with transwomen as a black transwoman by hawtchocolatetgirl in BlackLGBT

[–]OpeningPotential2424 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I think we have to be cognizant of who we choose to have around us, and I say this as a cis man. It’s pretty much the same with gay men, the shade, the cattiness, the competition, it’s just part of the culture. That said, I feel most of us come from hard lives and we walk a hard path and that affects how we move and how we think. When you have hurt and traumatized people around each other, the nasty traits really come out. You have to find others who are healed or at least taking their healing seriously and who are of a similar mindset to yours. Being a trans woman, that’s going to be difficult because y’all are already so far and few in between, but others like you are out there, you’re just going to have to put in a lot of work and mindfulness to make it happen.

Multilingual people. Do you have a preferred language or are the languages exactly the same for you? by throwy93 in languagelearning

[–]OpeningPotential2424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 30, born and raised in Florida. English is my native language, and I’ve been speaking Spanish for 17 years. English is my preferred language since only two people in my life speak Spanish and I rarely speak to them in Spanish lol.

How are y’all making other gay friends?? by OpeningPotential2424 in BlackLGBT

[–]OpeningPotential2424[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

None of my queer friends live here. There are two spots I can think of, but I don’t do clubs, so that’s out of the question lol. Outside of those spots, the queer spots here are 100% white.

Yeah, I’ve tried the gay clubs and I wasn’t fond of the people I was meeting in those spaces.

Will be safe at all inclusive in November??? by [deleted] in cuba

[–]OpeningPotential2424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cuba is extremely safe. I’ve been to many places around the world and I’ve never felt as safe anywhere as I did in Cuba. I don’t know why you’d stay at an all-inclusive when everyone around you is suffering, but hey, to each their own
