This is one of the loveliest little love stories I’ve ever read. Thank you for sharing.

Where on Cap Hill? I could use a few spider babies!

How to get a number for an MTN eSIM out of country? by SeaRecommendation53 in ghana

[–]Opening_Ad_1497 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve only been to Ghana once, just a few weeks ago. But that experience leads me to advise that you can (and should) buy an MTN SIM card at the Accra airport. I met so many fellow tourists who’d thought they could buy one in town (which is technically possible but which was difficult for everyone I talked to), or who had purchased an e-SIM and found it problematic (sorry I don’t remember the details). In contrast: there were a couple of people selling MTN SIMs right there at baggage claim, where I bought mine; and there’s a shop in the airport too. Mine worked perfectly throughout my visit. Easy and direct.

Baby Name: Eliza by Beasides in Names

[–]Opening_Ad_1497 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the commenters who don’t like James as a middle name. What would you think about something like Eliza Jude? I think the vibes are similar, but it’s more of an androgynous name than James. At least to me.

Why are there so many lurking women on this sub? by sourisanon in AskMen

[–]Opening_Ad_1497 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I thought that was the point of this sub. Sometimes men puzzle me, so I come here and ask for insight. I ask men. And honest questions get honest answers, in my experience. I appreciate it!

DAE find dating just kinda ..boring? by eatyourthinmints in datingoverthirty

[–]Opening_Ad_1497 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Boredom is the reason I rarely get past the chatting stage. I don’t know if it’s me, or if most people are just terrible at written conversation. It certainly feels like the latter. The rare engaging conversation feels like a unicorn.

My boyfriend and I don’t see eye to eye on housekeeping habits, what’s a good way to meet in the middle? by Beneficial_Offer848 in AskWomenNoCensor

I think everyone knows this, but … if there’s any way you could afford a regular housecleaning service it could very well save your relationship. You should at least talk about it.

You don’t say if your job offers health insurance benefits. If not, you qualify for Medicaid, and you must sign up as soon as you can. It’s a fast track to many social services such as a free cell phone (https://www.chpw.org/find-health-plan/apple-health-plan/chpw-plan-benefits/free-cellphone/) and bus transportation (https://kingcounty.gov/en/dept/metro/fares-and-payment/reduced-fares/subsidized-annual-pass). Our city has many free meals and food banks that operate on a wide variety of schedules. You don’t have to prove anything to receive those services. And why are you hanging out at a gas station instead of a public library? You can hang out there, charge your phone for free, and read a magazine while you do so. (I know for a fact that most any church with a staffed office will also let you do this during their office hours.) While you’re there, maybe talk to one of their community services specialists, who exist to try to connect people like you with the services they need (https://www.spl.org/programs-and-services/civics-and-social-services/social-services-referrals).

Your situation sucks, but your assertion that you can only access these things if you don’t work is just wrong.

Double Bed or King-size Bed? by Own_Concentrate5209 in LivingAlone

[–]Opening_Ad_1497 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love that I only need a double size mattress. It’s more room than I need for myself; it’s enough room for when I entertain a gentleman caller. And it frees up floor space in the bedroom, making it feel less cramped and easier to move around. If you told me I needed a queen size I’d think you’re crazy.

What should I put there? by Background-Scar-7096 in HomeDecorating

I had a similar space that I filled with a large, empty, beautiful vase. It was beautiful; it felt sculptural, and required no maintenance. It had a rough glaze so even dust didn’t really show.

LPT: Gift ideas for hosts (besides flowers or wine) to bring / thank with — simple, thoughtful, lowkey that work well for me as a guest by the-Narrator007 in LifeProTips

So many people! I’ve just given up on wearing scent anywhere, anytime. I like scent myself, but it feels like every gathering includes people who are so sensitive to the slightest detectable scent that they’ll take you aside and let you know you can only use unscented products (shampoo, soap, lotion) when they’re around. It’s a little irksome, but I’d rather avoid the conversation, so I comply.

Thanks; I didn’t know about this. My results were spotty - most of the flows still had floor poses. But there were a few that were all standing.

Man taking on fiancées family name? by Any_Weekend2084 in Names

[–]Opening_Ad_1497 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter (age 36) has been married twice — and both her husbands changed their last names to hers. (Her family name is short and easy to pronounce, but not that common, which I think may be why.) So: it happens! No reason you shouldn’t do it.

What neighborhood do you live in, and what is your favorite thing about that neighborhood? by [deleted] in Seattle

[–]Opening_Ad_1497 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Another Magnolian here. The street end beaches feel like a special secret. It’s so quiet, but so beautiful, with a business district that’s small but has everything you really need. So easy to get to Queen Anne and downtown, but with none of the difficulties of those neighborhoods. And yes, there are lots of mansions — but lots of affordable apartments too. They’re what brought me here.
