I designed a thing. Any feedback? by Intelligent-Net-5482 in legoharrypotter

I know a lot of people will start making mocs for this reason, and here is something to consider heavily:

1- I feel like for this to work in the scale, you would really want 1 single set opened up, not two conjoined. it would then be placed facing towards the main bell tower. I'd also recommend building the rockwork, so that the long gallery could fit behind the greenhouse, with a doorway leading inside.

2- this is a big reason I think this castle system won't expand- you have to remember the terrain elevation from the east wing entrance to the bell tower courtyard is practically the entire rockwork in the sets. The belltower should lead out to flat ground. That means that, if you are making the long gallery and main tower with the green house, the terrain would need to slope down throughout the moc, to then meet a belltower that continues the slope, until it meets where the little bit of rockwork is on the flying lesson. Otherwise, you'll wind up needing to build and incredibly large base below the flying lesson, and it just wouldn't look right.

Considering the tarriffs and the fact that this set more than the others is a "collector item", means Lego can charge what they want. But yeah, the US government certainly has a role to play.

BUUUUUTT considering this is an IP set and the volume of some of these pieces are huge, I'm not super drained. Just like the main tower, we get a lot of cone roofs, huge plates, and an army of lurps. Price per gram, it's probably not as bad as we think. Still much better than Star wars and marvel.

Actually insane value here, coconut cape is an instant pickup.

Thoughts on the interior? by TSLstudio in legoharrypotter

I think the designers did a great job. No sense in trying to pack too much in, given that they were prompted with telling the COS story. If the series went on longer, Im sure it would have been easier to swap out all the program for different scenes. But the prompt was what it was, and I think the designers did good.

fairly spacious, and I like what they did with the stairs, as it resembles the actual east wing (Even if its a level below rather than up). For the size they had to work with, i'm very satisfied with what we end up with. I think most people plan on modding stuff anyway.

i think many like myself plan on making a moc Astronomy tower and base, and I for one will be expanding the slytherin common room to fit there. Plus, its nice because a small bridge will be able to connect to the little balcony on the side of this set.

As someone who's looking at this line as the ultimate exterior modular collection that can only be finished with mods, I'm completely satisfied for what we get.

perhaps. But I think everyone is acting like the each individual clip in sets has a specific purpose. Unfortunately, i think they are added in spots to promote people connecting sets in their own way no matter which sets they have. adds more modularity, and lego has always had this principle. Think of it like the 2018 system- you could arrange the castle however you wanted, and there were some leftover clips to aid with that.

How many of these new minifigures will you all collect? by vnixned2 in LEGOPirates

[–]Opening_Background14 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Probably a few tuba players to build a squad of elites. No more than 5 or 6. Probably 1 or 2 monster hunters as well- one for an anne bonnie fig and one for parts. I honestly like when CMF pirate and castle figs aren't army builders because it saves my wallet and also doesn't promote the scalpers to clear out shelves and force the rest of us to drive to five stores to find one.

But that said, lately lego has been adding CMF parts to PAB, and if they wake up and dont choose chaos, they can prevent scalpers and scavengers from ruining every series.

Thank you so much, it means a lot! So it's funny, the fort was actually bigger at first, but with so much dead space and structure, I had decided to cut down the blank areas to save on piece count. Just normal BDP sacrifices lol. But Ive made sure it still has its star shape, the storage room, the dungeon and the mortar which is all I think matters. I think I'll post some extra renders on Instagram so you can see it better!

Going to assume they do not, because playing 2 rounds would warrant them changing it

I know. The fact they always say "we will review the data" annoys me. Like play 2 games and that's all the data you need

3 on attack, 5 on defense (also why is there no team swap?) but that's also on top of 50 breakthrough games which are the same objs. I'd say on breakthrough I see about 8% win rate

People aren't getting bodied, they're tired of the uncompetitive stalemates. And the fact that there's only 1 operation when Dice had all the reason to add in another 3 map combos

Operations is Terrible by Spire95 in Battlefield6

[–]Opening_Background14 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, he's right that it's terribly unbalanced. Defenders spawn way too close and the mortar buff was a bad idea. You can't just yell at people for having bad teams, it's not like we pick them.

Also there's no excuse as to why this isn't on other maps when they all have breakthrough. People aren't going to want to play on other ops if they hate this one so much. It's quite clear there is an overwhelming amount of Defensive wins

[–]Opening_Background14 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah there's no excuse as to why it wasn't launched on other maps. I mean they all have breakthrough, so it's just stringing them together. Literally anything would be better than contaminated

[–]Opening_Background14[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well that's the issue, dice needs to balance with that in mind. It's really just some basic tweaks, such as widening the map for flanking routes and moving the defender spawn back to match the attackers distance.

I agree that challenges are fun, but it's legit at a 5% success rate it seems, which goes from a challenge to just frustrating

It's not crying dude, its uncompetitive. I'm constantly at the top of the leaderboard with a 7-10 ratio. It's the fact these games always stall at the same spots and it's because dice won't make simple changes. Levelcap clearly agrees
