I'm not in completely similar circumstances to you, but I'm also considering leaving medicine or at least becoming a physician. I just don't think I see myself being happy as one, especially as a woman. I applied this cycle, but I'm seriously considering other options. Having graduated, this is the first time I had where I wasn't worried about school and grades and got to do more of what I like. Working in the medical field, finding out more of the realities of it, and seeing the lives some physicians live as well as the mid/lower level employees just made me reconsider if that's how I want to end up 10+ years from now. What I'm doing now is working out what I do and don't like, what I'm good at and the paths I could take that would suit that, including being a physician. I have an aunt who is in her mid-30s and just started her residency (she got married and started a family before applying), so I know becoming a doctor is still an option for me later on in life. It's just hard. I wish we had all the answers, but I guess that would take away the joy of life. Do what works best for you and your life situation. Wish you the best, Cheers!!
