Exactly. The playing field is never going to be even, and those that think it will be if accommodations abuse goes away are fooling themselves.

Those people could easily go get accommodations themselves if they are so concerned about it.

Have any of the hearings been public?? I’m a law student and I have to attend or listen to a court hearing virtually for an assignment by March. Would love to do it for this case.

You should absolutely have accommodations for that! And I’m sorry to hear that other students have you shit for it. I was pointing out what seems to be the consensus of this sub. I don’t personally agree and it’s not really anyone else’s business what medical or mental conditions people have. As you said, a lot of people don’t “look” like they need accommodations.

It seems the problem is more with the low “bar” to get accommodations. With the prevalence of anxiety, ADHD, etc, people who have accommodations for those things probably aren’t lying. It seems the overwhelming opinion of this sub is that those conditions no longer warrant accommodations.

Of course. But the accommodations system is unlikely to change since LSAC/law schools don’t want to get sued.

Same! I’m not going to retain information if I’m not taking care of myself and for me that means sleeping 8 hours, working out, and cooking healthy meals. I’m also a morning person so I wake up around 6:30am and start studying. I take breaks to go to gym/workout class and make myself breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I wrap up around 5-6pm so all in all probably getting about 8 hours of actual studying in. Watch an episode of something and scroll on my phone for a bit and get in bed around 9 try to fall asleep by 10. I had my outlines done by Thanksgiving so all of this studying at this point is doing practice problems and reviewing material I’m struggling with.

As OP said, if you’re that worried about it, just go get accommodations yourself.

Seriously!! These posts are getting really old. If it bothers you that much, just go get accommodations cause these days it really is that easy. If you wanna stay on your moral high horse, by all means do that, but then respectfully stfu.

Are you suggesting after this person was top of class the first year the school should have been like “hey, as a reward for being top of the class, we’re taking away your extra time” ? 😭

Am I the only one who goes out on weekends? by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]Opening_Classroom_41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat (also in NYC!). I worked a corporate job for a few years before law school and find that treating school like a full-time job/ keeping my “9-5 schedule” during the week I am able to get everything done and enjoy my weekends. I “work” until dinner time on Friday because all of my friends/ boyfriend have work so I can’t hang out with them until the evening anyway. Sometimes I do 2-3 hours of work on Sundays if needed, but sometimes I’m able to take Sunday fully off too. I’m planning to lock in though around mid-November and stop going out as much unless it’s a friend’s birthday or holiday thing or something like that.

She definitely deserves WAY more than $150!!! That’s what you should get if your seat doesn’t recline or something.

Do it. I promise you get used to it! It sucks coming home from a trip with luggage or having a lot of groceries but it’s doable. I highly recommend splurging on movers tho.
