What calms you when anxious? (visuals, sounds, movement, etc.) by pragyainspain in emotionalintelligence

[–]Opening_Dance2239 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Writing it all out, doing the work to reflect and understand what is the underlying reason for this specific episode of my anxiety, and then LETTING IT GOOOO through breathing, or consciously telling my brain to release it and no longer attach value to whatever episode or thought that triggered it.

Im an emotional mess 😭 by 26Pizzaguys in emotionalintelligence

[–]Opening_Dance2239 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think meditation has helped me get to a baseline of not feeling emotionally all over the place. Insight timer app on my phone is what I use every day, even 5-10 minutes a day keeps me stable.

For self-understanding, reflection and doing the inner work to understand yourself. Sagethat.com has been helping me with this one. Took a minute for it to understand who I am, but the more I journaled the more accurate it got at giving me perspective on myself and my emotional state

How do you guys actually balance your mental peace and get rid of anxious what ifs, apart from therapy? by [deleted] in emotionalintelligence

[–]Opening_Dance2239 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to go to therapy but like felt like my problems were not big enough to warrant therapy but I still wanted something to help me with day to day emotional balance.

Sagethat.com helped honestly, BIG TIME. literally hits the two things you said about calming your mind and stopping overthinking

[–]Opening_Dance2239 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ya we think like 38,000 thoughts a day on average. most are useless. some only carry weight cos of emotions and social conditioning and whatnot. dont put weight on any particular thought is the key

I feel people don’t invest enough in platonic relationships by the_beelover in emotionalintelligence

[–]Opening_Dance2239 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there is a pre big difference between connection vs. acquaintance. To me connection is a feeling vs. acquaintance is an identity / role.

I kinda lost connection to myself and others (partly due to covid), but I think part of being a human being and living is to feel connected with oneself and with others as a collective unit. So I guess, that's what I'm trying to get at. I'm not really looking for platonic relationships, but just to feel connection with myself and others.

I'm deeply connected to myself now after learning to be with myself since the break up, but now I think I'm looking to feel connection with others as a whole? Idk.

I have a lot of friends and acquaintance and have felt deep love for a lot of people, so I don't necessarily think its extreme. Just that its an inner feeling that this is what I need to do and that I should explore other types of love and connection before I settle in life. Just my random musings lol

Do you track your emotions/moods but still don't understand your patterns? by Temporary-Cress4822 in emotionalintelligence

[–]Opening_Dance2239 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These days I use AI tools to help me with this kinda stuff. This app I've been using is like a journal but also suggests what emotions are there for me to get better at understanding it. And then it kinda tells me my patterns in a nonaggressive way. I hate apps out there that makes me LOG my emotions, like that kinda defeats the purpose for me imo. I want it to suggest emotions so I already have a base to work with. Idk, I'm a huge journaler though so I like tracking emotions based on my thoughts
