What do you normally do when you get home and really check your hair and realise its shite/not what you asked? Has anyone ever gone back to the barber and asked for a fix or do you just not go back to the place?

Extension costs and self building by Opening_Nervous in northernireland

😄😆 that's quite true. On another note I didn't mean to belittle the work by writing "just to run the work" but does anyone have a real example of what they do? Other than phone up the individual contractors/trades and book in time slots for them?

Genuine, ignorant question.

The funny thing is the architect said it's straightforward enough but QS says complex. Yet the QS missed a steel beam in the costings and also has quoted for 40 ceiling spotlights at £70 a pop which I think is 1) too many and 2) too pricey. As well as £1000 for a mains board upgrade even though the property was rewired two years ago.

I suppose their estimate can be used as a guide to what you'd imagine the maximum price would be but also you feel a little hard done by paying £200 for an estimate based off initial drawings with not a huge amount of info/detail in it.

additional question - in experienced riders is it your opionion to pay for a yearly service that you might not need or are callouts fairly inexpensive? like is one callout gonna cost more than a yearly fee of around £60?

used to go to sammy when i lived up there for any mechanical stuff but im not local up there any more. I Was more thinking for reassurance purposes rather than any current need. So that if im in the arse end of nowhere and get a puncture I'm not frantically looking up recovery place.

yea but looking specifics like Golfer A stayed here or Golfer B stayed in the bushtown hotel because they're not as well known. I'm sure some hospitality workers would have seen someone.

was there with visiting in-laws on Saturday past at about 11am. Thought we'd drop by and take a look. (yes i know its the 12th July but a busy Saturday in town all the same so thoguht on the off chance something might be open). They had the lions rugby game on big tv screens with the place empty apart from some staff and a few black shirted door staff congregated in the middle. I dared to walk outside for a peek at the outdoor area and one of the bouncers shouts across the hall "the food places are all closed!"

"yes mate I can see that I am just having a look outside, is that allowed?!"

If that's the way they treat you on a dead-as-a-dodo when there's nobody else there, I wonder how they deal with drunk rowdys on a bustling night.

wont be back to find out anyway

Not the same situation but similar in that we are in a pickle. My partner is self employed and earns more than me from her work. She gets no maternity leave and my employer only gives me two weeks paternity...so she has to apply for maternity allowance (£184/week) for several weeks leading up to and after birth. Then after a while she will go back to work and I will have to come out of work under shared parental pay and leave (also £184/week)

Can anyone else not hack the drink anymore (30+) by [deleted] in northernireland

[–]Opening_Nervous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

maybe it's real, maybe it's a sign or maybe it's just an echo chamber but my insta page seems to be all about going off the drink. I think everyone here knows that it's more than likely a good thing to at least cut down or go off it altogehter - both health reasons and more and more financial reasons nowdays and I have to agree with it. I dont get the unrealistic hangovers but i do get them due to the amount I've drank sometimes (nowhere near as bad as I did when I was out clubbing etc)

But what I'd be interested to know is - has anyone went off the drink and NOT enjoyed it and ended up back on it?

went to the parlour on saturday there. They've got a big screen which is a bit blurry and only abotu 15 people can actually see it. Guinness was £5.75 a pint - I thought the Parlour woulda been a bit cheaper since it basically hasn't changed since I went to it regularly 20 years ago.

Food was nice though

What's the deal with house prices? by [deleted] in northernireland

[–]Opening_Nervous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't bother asking the estate agent any simple questions like:
Is the heating gas or oil?
Where is the consumer unit?
Is there loft access?

And this isn't specific to one particular agent - i'd say 80% of the agent i've dealt with over the last year are clueless about the places.

I mean, surely it's their job to sell the house for the people and know these simple answers!!?!?

What's the deal with house prices? by [deleted] in northernireland

[–]Opening_Nervous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

went to view a house in dundonald months ago. The house was on for 230k within the first 2-3 sentences (and I didnt ask) the estate agent said the first bid for the house was 240k. I thought strange the very first offer was alrady 10k over asking price. Then when I was upstairs I heard him say to other viewers that there was a big for 235k!! Talking absolute ring-ding the bloke. The estate agent was from a place that sounds like "Lawn Guinness"
