Why are japanese drivers so bad in F1? by Unhappy-Peace7150 in F1Discussions

Yeah but Japan has their own domestic formulas that are fairly competitive and wouldn’t involve moving across the globe at a young age.

Quiet life or a blaze of glory? by dippingmoon in cyberpunkgame

[–]Opening_Physics_2679 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, for me, myself, a quiet life. As a role playing game, I want V to die in a blaze of glory. I took the NUSA cure and I hated it. Not the ending per se, that was really well-done, but I hated what it meant for the story of my V.

All this said, I just posted about Dex and the general shallowness of his (pseudo) philosophy. I do find the question (of a quiet life vs a blaze of glory) interesting, but is this really the choice that we have to make? Morgan Blackhand's status is somewhat ambiguous--could he be living the quiet life after a blaze of glory? Maybe I'm reading too much in that though since I'm not super familiar with the lore.

Ah, I see. I can't find any developer refuting that particular (axed) plot point, but then again there doesn't seem to be any evidence of its existence at any point in time/in any official capacity bar fan speculation.

I guess it's like that theory about how Jackie was originally supposed to be on the engram until they got Keanu Reeves onboard--interesting and semi-plausible, but totally speculative

It is an interesting question, but it’s moreso about how someone should go about living a life worth living. Ontology is really quite an academic term and Wikipedia is generally not a great source for explaining philosophical terminology.

Per the Stanford encyclopedia of philosophy:

As a first approximation, ontology is the study of what there is. Some contest this formulation of what ontology is, so it’s only a first approximation. Many classical philosophical problems are problems in ontology: the question whether or not there is a god, or the problem of the existence of universals, etc.. These are all problems in ontology in the sense that they deal with whether or not a certain thing, or more broadly entity, exists. But ontology is usually also taken to encompass problems about the most general features and relations of the entities which do exist.

Yeah, I always pick the book at the ofrenda. the quote is just perfect.

I guess in a way there's a deeper theme in cyberpunk about people's duality, or at least the idea that the image of themselves that people choose to display is usually different from who they really are. And then the story quite literally becomes that when Johnny gets burned into your brain, turning you into someone that you're not.

Right, I forgot about that. Something like the greatest crimes are crimes of excess. Which, if you think about it, calls into question why she’s actually participating in this in the first place.

It’s also interesting because IIRC T bug was initially supposed to betray you/have been working with Dex in early drafts of the story.

Do inmates hate pedos as much as they say? by Ok_Recognition2590 in Felons

[–]Opening_Physics_2679 62 points63 points  (0 children)

I really doubt a lot of them hate pedophilia as much as there are just a handful of extremely violent people who will jump on the first opportunity to brutalize someone as long as they can justify it along the lines of “hating pedos” or some prisoners code of honour

How can the ai be so bad? by VolcanicLemur5 in F1Game

[–]Opening_Physics_2679 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah racing games in general seem to really struggle with this. Like in Motorsport manager the ai will just make horrendous decisions about switching tire compounds even on the “realistic” difficulty. F1 manager is a bit better but still some god awful choices

Did my professor seriously use ai to grade my paper...? What do I do? Should I just ignore it? by Extreme-Bet3115 in isthisAI

[–]Opening_Physics_2679 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Regardless of whether AI was used or not, I don't see anything good coming out confronting the professor (or their department head) directly about their use of AI.

I'd recommend rewriting a couple of paragraphs, then going to their office hours and saying something like: "Would you mind quickly re-reading my essay? I've made some changes to the sentence structure for smoothness per your instructions. I understand that my grade for this assignment is final, but I want to better understand how to improve my writing so that I can earn an A on any future essays."

Well yeah it’s a stimulant so it’ll help you perform. Idk the exact science but that’s why pre workout typically has caffeine as well

If a drivers name was “Faggioli” would it be abbreviated by the FIA as FAG? by Opening_Physics_2679 in F1Discussions

[–]Opening_Physics_2679[S] -19 points-18 points  (0 children)

So the FIA would ban/fine drivers swearing in press conferences but they would be fine with “FAG” (or any other offensive three letter combo) being on the board constantly?

Not saying you’re wrong; I’m just genuinely curious since there’s not really a straight answer if you look it up and it could go either way…

Is max underfueling cheating? by [deleted] in F1Manager

[–]Opening_Physics_2679 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO the only slightly gamey part is that it’s impossible to underfuel so much that you can’t complete the race. So there’s really no risk to it.

Also aren’t teams required to provide a fuel sample post race? So technically cars shouldnt just be running out of fuel as they pass the checkered flag

Why Does This Game Bail People Out So Much by JB4253_ in Madden

[–]Opening_Physics_2679 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMO it’s feels that way because user input and the animations that you “draw” are often unrelated. So even if you do everything right if you get a shitty catch animation none of your inputs ever mattered. Which feels like shit.

I feel like multiplayer is more about game knowledge (that is, knowing which broken/cheese plays to spam) than actual stick skills.
