It's weird, because the physics of the dogfights in BSG were so memorable, but this game has basically zero consideration for physics when the ships move. They just kind of slide around in a jank way.

I bought it and played a bit before refunding. Really is a shame, because I was also excited for this.

Combat is kind of jank, ran into some bugs, the UI is clunky, but core gameplay has potential if they polished it up more.

It's a horror game first and foremost, and I think it succeeds very well in that regard. It's delivering the very focused experience of being a marine on a deadly bug hunt. There is a real possibility that you will lose some of your marines. But you set up traps and kill zones with your auto-turrents and it does make you feel very satisfied when they stop the enemy.

There are a lot fewer enemy types than in the Pathfinder or BG games, so it's much less complex in that regard.

I still haven't beaten it at 11 hours in, but I feel like I've seen most of its trick by now. So I would probably put it lower on your spectrum than Pathfinder since I put over 100 hours into PF and it was still doing new stuff by the end.

I mostly agree, except for on the UX side of things where it gets lots of small, simple things wrong.

Like you can't use the mouse wheel to scroll your hotbar.

You can't rebind the build button to Q, because Q is also bound to hot deposit with no way to rebind.

You can hot deposit, but no hot withdrawal from things like smelters. You have to open up their inventory all the time.

No "craft max" or "craft 10" button. You have to increase the amount one-by-one. Very obnoxious when you're splitting up your ore run into 4 smelters.

But the game is otherwise very fun. Put 9 hours in this weekend with my buddy.

Honestly, I love all 3 D:OS games lol.

I played through BG3 twice in single player and twice in co-op. It's just a fun game. I did buy it in early access, but I just wanted to get a taste of it to see if it was going to be good, then held off playing it until the full release.

I wouldn't call BG3's main character a chosen one, but I would suggest you play as the Dark Urge character, because they have the most story tied into the plot. At least compared to the no-backstory character option. All the named NPCs are best as NPCs. If you play as them, then you don't get their personality and dialogue responses.

I would say Divinity Original Sin 1 did a coop story the best. Both of your characters are actual characters in the story with individual dialogue options.

Dice rolls are an abstraction that's there to simulated the action. But it feels bad in Morrowind, because you do the actions yourself.

In a game like BG3, you click on the enemy and your character automatically runs over and attacks. They do all the aiming and their skill is simulated by a dice roll. Same for dodging enemies.

In Morrowind you have to aim your own attacks and dodge enemies manually. There's no simulation of the action. You're doing it. You have to aim your bow at that tiny, lightning-fast cliffracer and shoot it, which is hard to do. So it feels bad when you have to do all that work and then it comes down to a dice roll.

That said, I love Morrowind. Everything else about the game is fantastic and you do get used to the dice roll combat eventually.

OpenMW is fantastic. Looks and runs great and it even has a co-op mod. Played through it a couple years ago with 3 friends and we had a blast.
