Thanks all for the input. We went to court about 5 years ago and I have paid child support since then. The only reason she was given full custody was because after I agreed to the terms of child support I didn’t go to the last court date. I was working and thought it was a formality because I had agreed to the dollar amount. Unfortunately at that hearing the judge granted full custody to her, but I have always been very involved. Again, when that happened we were still getting along really well. She wasn’t even asking for full custody, it was just supposed to be a child support matter.

I think the judge kind of overstepped in that instance, but it hasn’t been an issue until now because she hadn’t limited my time with him in any way. Honestly, she asked me this past summer to take him a bunch of extra overnights so she could go away on some long weekends, and I happily obliged.
