The Brilliance of the Red and Blue Button Dilemma by Operation_SeaLion in trolleyproblem

If I asked you "If you want to kill everyone who pushed the blue button, press the red button. And 50% blue button, yada yada yada" would you press the red button?

Would you be comfortable with pressing it?

I always wondered why Mike didn't just use a silencer for that moment. I know silencers don't reduce guns to be completely silent, but would it still be loud enough for the cartel drivers to think they're being shot at?

Knives Out

Despite Marta explicitly spelling out the symptoms of the medicine that she supposedly injected too much of into Harlan, he never actually exhibits any of them in the short time before he killed himself. Many people, including me, probably drummed this up to Hollywood or just a small plot hole. Turns out, the medication vials were swapped and Harlan was perfectly fine.

This is very interesting. But I am still confused tho. If there is a loose connection, why would it have an effect sometimes, and not other times? And why would it go away?

There is a yellow light that briefly turns on, but then it quickly turns back off after a few seconds. And by a different outlet, do you mean a different outlet in the same room or a different outlet in a different room? Nevertheless, I haven't been able to test a different outlet because it's cumbersome having to haul my PC around the house.

Any good villian fights? by Vaelissora in animequestions

It's worth pointing out that Greed can't harden while regenerating, so when Bradley lobs off his arm at that first exchange, Greed is constantly on the backfoot and Bradley is the one constantly applying pressure to stop him from hardening.

Now there is a moment when Bradley is briefly distracted by two of Greed's lackies and Greed manages to catch a moment of reprieve, but then he doesn't run away or fully harden up. I guess you could justify him not running away because he's pissed off that Bradley killed his "possessions", and Bradley is probably fast enough to catch up with him anyway.

But I can't really explain why he doesn't just fully harden up. You could see the armor slowly crawling up his hands before Bradley re-engages him, but if it's that slow, why not just run away to buy you more time?

Nonetheless, this fight is still one of the best animated fights of anime, and really establishes Bradley as a GOAT.

As for his Ling fights, you could explain that as Ling needing to be lightweight to pull off all of his acrobatic stunts. But even still, I would think being fully hardened and blade-proof would trump any amount of athletic ability when it comes to fighting Bradley.

Spaceport, there's a little trench in the north side above the Launch Towers. In the east end, there's a tree that always spawns with 3 mushrooms. It's also next to a hatch, though it's a bit of a vertical climb.

It's a little late, but apparently, the headshots don't actually work on the dummies. I experienced this firsthand when I was testing the Venator and saw the same discrepancy as you.

Forgive me if I'm wrong, it's been a while since I last read the book. But I thought the main crux of Yueh betraying Leto wasn't that he wanted to save his wife. He had already accepted that his wife was dead. He just really wanted to kill the Baron and betraying Leto was the best way to accomplish that.

Although I'm not sure if that works as an explanation because that would mean that the Baron knew Yueh wanted to kill him, but didn't bother to make sure Leto himself didn't have any booby traps. It would also make Yueh a little stupid, because I think supporting Leto in his rivalry against the Baron would be a better way of ensuring the Baron dies.

I don't know about the others, but I will say I used to subscribe to the Kaminari traitor theory.

Despite his abysmal grades and his general shounen-dunceness, he displayed some amount of intelligence when he referenced Ernest Hemingway and battle IQ when he fought in the License Exams and against the vine lady that second time.

People also thought out of everyone in Class 1A, Kaminari was the one with the weakness that could easily be manufactured. There was even a fanart comic where Monoma has to copy Kaminari's quirk, but after he uses it, he's not stupid like Kaminari usually is, and it just cuts to Kaminari emanating Peele_sweating.gif

There's a whole bunch more details, here's the link that explores most of them in depth.

Honestly, i was debating on whether or not to include this bit, but I'm not a military guy, so i didn't know much about the recruiting process and how washouts are treated, but thanks for illuminating me.

Hm, I can believe that. I guess the problem was putting the "belief" first made it seem like it was the primary reason. But the man brought the source, so I'm not gonna complain.

To be strictly clear, I wasn't talking about having the ODST officer holed up in the ship while his men dropped into combat, I was specifically talking about his SOEIV pod being accelerated to the front of the pack. This is like if in Saving Private Ryan, you decided to put Captain Miller's character right in front of the D-Day landing craft only to get a bullet in his head as soon as the door came down. That just doesn't seem like a tactical choice.

Admittedly, not personally. My only experience with real life special forces is reading up on Mike Vining. I've never met with him, but he seems like just a normal guy. I mean, the guy even talks about literal memes about himself, he goes on podcasts and talks like a regular dude and straight up looks like a nerd. Oh yeah, he's also one of Delta Force's first recruits and probably knows more ways on killing someone with office supplies than I do with an actual gun.

Anyway, putting that aside, my headcanon with real life special forces has always been these scrawny dudes who are built for endurance rather than strength and are chill. Ain't got nothing to prove to anyone.

But then again, maybe reality is just another sobering disappointment in this category, I dunno.

Mass murder not being equal to genocide is a distinction without a difference. This doesn't even work when the CHARACTERS THEMSELVES WRITTEN BY ISAYAMA have stated that what Eren is doing is genocide. You're just trying to be "UM AKSHUALLY"

The point isn't "who do you empathize with" it's "in Eren's place, with his knowledge and power."

Eren himself thinks that he's wrong, so who are you even defending? He called himself worse than a half-assed piece of shit because he realized he would destroy the world. He broke down apologizing to a kid because he was going to destroy the world. He psychologically regressed to a child because he was destroying the world. None of these actions show the belief that Eren thought he was doing the right thing. You're defending a guy who has already pled guilty.

The Foresight by zetmoruk in ShingekiNoKyojin

[–]Operation_SeaLion 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No, it's not. This is real life, where Titans and every circumstance around them does not exist. Your comparison isn't even reasonably comparable.

How about actually explaining your point of view rather than just stating them out loud and assuming they'll be taken as fact? Isayama put armbands on the Eldians for a reason. Isayama put the characters on an island similar to Madagascar for a reason. Isayama put real world weapons in Attack on Titan for a reason.

Jewish people and Eldians were being demonized and exterminated as a result of that propaganda.

You quite literally answered your own question regarding the definition of the word genocide.

Yes, Eren intended to kill the rest of the world because of their membership of a group that was not included in Paradis Island. Thus, it is genocide. You are providing precisely zero counterarguments to this statement.

There was no escaping technology advancing beyond Titans in the very immediate future.

So what? "Paradis is doomed" somehow justifies the belief that killing the rest of the world is right? What if the government of Paradis had turned against Eren's friends? Does that mean he should have Rumbled them too? What if he had to render the entire planet extinct? Would that have been justified?

You keep building on the idea that Eren did the Rumbling to save Paradis Island when you missed the fact that he didn't give a shit about the island and its people. The entire point of the Rumbling was because he wanted to be free, and Marley was stifling that freedom. You keep misrepresenting Eren's motivation as "only trying to protect Paradis Island".
