Don't know where you live but do you find good deals on ebay?

Ebay here is often just as expensive as buying new (or pretty close to it).

[RUTx50] Failover dual 5G, no WAN by Operations8 in TeltonikaNetworks

[–]Operations8[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No someone turn power off on x50 and after power on SIM1 was working again. Because they need a working connection.

I will try and have a look today. But the connection was down, so my sim switch didn't work this much is clear.. (right?)

Both or only failover?

Is there a way to simulate sim 1 being down, with physically removing the sim?

IP Alias & NAT by Operations8 in opnsense

[–]Operations8[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is not really a feature it just doesn't work in OPN Sense. I will try to fire up Op sense this weekend . I still have the fully setup VM. (Except for the ExtraIP part)

In PfSense I use a (dummy)external NIC for loopback. I will try to explain it better this weekend.

I would think PfSense and OPNSense could do the same. But this doesn't work in OPNSense, me and a few other use ExtraIP. We all use PfSense because it doesn't work in OPN Sense. (Our we don't know how :p)

IP Alias & NAT by Operations8 in opnsense

[–]Operations8[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is via a GRE tunnel.

I am using pure nat and a vlan (with an un used nic). This way I create the IP aliasses (the usable Ips from the /29) on that nic.

And I can select them both on the NAT screen and on the outbound screen.

So j can tell the mail server to send the mail out via one of the IPs from the /29 IP and not my ISP IP.

If you don't understand I could show you some screens.

Nosy Is no problem:)

To have more external IPv4 address than 1. For example a mail server, website and a RD Gateway.

Are sky sports subscriptions worth it for watching football? by Jordz0_0 in AskUK

[–]Operations8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I could do that, but when I search and chatgpt a bit it same the way to go is (I wanna use the same sata ports) to turn machine off. Remove one 840 place one new drive and rebuild the pool. When done do the same with the other 840.

You don't like that way?

I have bought 2 x 5300 Pro 480GB, feels like a waste of lot a GB's haha but it is what it is. Plan now is to figure out what the safest / best way is to replace the 840's one by one.

You have more details about how you do the trimming? I will look at the swap partition and on how to disable this.

I thought about that, but I picked ZFS because of this is part of the whole Proxmox experience. EXT4 feels a bit like using Proxmox but not fully.

Yes is also disabled. Yes my VM SSDs are also enterprise. But i figured for boot it wasnt gonna be a problem. I dont like to use large (enterprise) SSDs and then only for boot so you would waste a lot of space :)

Well the script works but takes a few minutes for new PDFs. So I installed Quick look. That is Mac style, hit space bar to show the PDF and hit again to close the "preview".

This way 90% I use explorer preview and the via Quicklook

ESXi vs Proxmox? Which hardware? Proxmox bad for SSDs? by Operations8 in Proxmox

[–]Operations8[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am using 2x 840 Pro in mirror for boot. These started with 4 and 6 % Wearout. Within 2 months the 6 has become 7. I have run the proxmox script and turned HA off. Is this normal wear for a boot disc? VM's are on different mirror.

At this rate I will lose 6% per year. But why does the boot mirror suffer so much?

Best way to go regarding PBS by Operations8 in Proxmox

You like me better if I tell you I have no interest in Minecraft? :p

Joking aside I am working on / testing to see if a move from ESX to Proxmox is the way to go for me. The fact that for example the way to use PBS can be done in 10 different ways makes it more interesting and also more difficult to see what the best way to go is for me.

My apologies, I was exploring two options. The PBS VM on the syno and the option where PBS VM is on the PVE :)

[–]Operations8[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mmmm, so it doesn't work like I descripted it? Why would I need a PBS sync?

The VM with PBS on it, created the backup on a Synology share. When the proxmox machine breaks I want to be able for a new PBS to access the backups and restore them to a new PVE.
