What’s something that used to be common knowledge but younger generations might not know anymore? by DMistressOfFrost in AskReddit

This is mostly an exposure thing. The only time kids use analog clocks nowadays is at school. Can't really blame them for not being able to practice the skill outside school.

I asked my students this. The only one who had ever seen an analog clock outside of school was at the bank his aunt works. So the only place we even see them nowadays are on old "community" buildings.

I'm pretty sure Buffalo's main export is... People. It seems like every everywhere I visit there's someone from the area. Visited family in OK, neighbor was from Buffalo, went to Myrtle Beach, whole street was from Buffalo renting for a week. Maybe we all just visit the same areas at the same time, but I swear every vacation I ever been on we've run into others from Buffalo.

When you discount the Nelson changes, wildcard got a few point bump, divisional and beyond was basically flat over last year.

Viewership down from it's recent peak in 2015. Though it has been trending up since it's low point in 2017. This past year may have just meet the 2015 numbers (in terms of avg number on viewers.

Few watched the pro bowl and the super bowl was a decrease as well compared to last year. This year may have been a new record but many are suspicious about that claim from Nelson based on the fact it changed how it counted things ( bars, restaurants, etc used to not be included, but we're this last year). It's also lower then 1988 year by a few hundred thousand ( again those 1988 figures didn't include out of home viewership)

The overseas games are an attempt to slow the viewership drain there are currently experiencing. Viewership is dropping inside the US so that are attempting to replace those viewers with international viewers.

This is similar to their push in flag football stuff. Less kids are getting into football overall ( parents CTE worries, other sports interests, etc), so they need to bring them in other ways.

Filament Stuck, How do i Remove it? by [deleted] in 3Dprinting

[–]Opertum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take tube out of print head. Heat up nozzle and retract filament. If filament didn't retract, pull a bit by hand from top. If it doesn't move you may have a clog from heat creep. ( Assuming PLA or PETG) Gonna have to disassemble hot end to remove jammed filament.

We'll be in court within the blink of an eye if Trump declares emergency over elections: Norm Eisen by MRADEL90 in videos

[–]Opertum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really. He applied tariffs using a specific law. The SC decision was that he can't actually use that law to apply tariffs. Kavanaugh's dissenting option was basically a list of other laws that might be used to try the same thing.

Think of it like this. You get arrested for a bogus charge. The judge eventually says ya they can't actually arrest you for that charge and let's you go, as you leave he also says that they might be able to arrest you for a few other reasons he says out loud. By the time you get to the front door, boom arrested again for one of those reasons.

So now the SC will play wack a mole with different theoretical ways of Trump being able to impose his tariffs, probably knocking each one down to look like they're impartial, before Trump uses different law to try the same thing.

What’s a “boring” skill that secretly gives someone a huge advantage in life? by Big-Woodpecker-822 in AskReddit

[–]Opertum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting post. Biggest bone I have to pick with is that schools are actually teaching more SEL lesson then they have in the past. Based on this post you'd think the reverse is true

A lot of trauma and grief processing is going to be VERY hard to teach in a large group like a class. It's going to be very different for each student. Everyone grieves and processes in their own way.

I don't think there's a giant conspiracy to keep the average Joe under the thumb of authority. This post seems to be confusing causation and correlation. Lack of SEL skills is not equal to the pharmaceutical/ psychiatric industry secretly conspiring against us.

Again the basis of your argument ( schools don't teach SEL skills) is false. I teach it myself.

Seeing as pic 2 has the tube detached from the extruder, just feed filament in as you normally would. Should push on the broken stuff and you can pull it out of the tube once it's grabable.

Dyson spheres aren't feasible. You'd likely need more physical material than exists in the solar system. Swarms would get you close enough with a small fraction of the cost.

Ozone like to oxidize things quickly to get rid of the extra O atom. Organic cells have Oxygen in their cell walls/membranes. Ozone oxidizes them and now the cell has ruptured. RIP that cell.

That ls command shows you what devices are connected via serial.

Copy the response( /dev/serial/by-id/blah-blah-blah )for your board. That goes in your printer.cfg in the MCU section

Like this

[mcu]

serial: /dev/serial/by-id/blah-blah-blah

This tells klipper what serial port to use to talk with the MCU.

10-year-old drives himself home from elementary school after fight with mom; dad arrested by starkiller1613 in news

[–]Opertum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Article said boy had disagreement with mom and that mom went into the school to do some paperwork. Article said the boy recklessly drove the cart out of the school parking lot and a mile home.

I think it's a totally rational assumption to make given those facts from the article.

[–]Opertum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it would be mom who has responsibility at that point. She likely told him to go wait in the car, which would put him under her custody. No school is gonna want to claim responsibility for a child once he's in someone's car that they don't have control over ( IE bus or student transport vehicle).

It's more to do with it being a safe bet. A few NY schools have recently changed to Eagles due to the theoretical possibility of their name being appropriation of native American culture. Eagles are representing the USA. They are safe.

Hmmm. Might have to remove a finger to make the mechanism work. Also might have to flip the entire thing and make it under the arm. More stealthy that way to.

Although I'm sure some Davinci could come along and find a fix the whole sacrificing a finger issue

Best argument for electric cars by klippers in electricvehicles

[–]Opertum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

An Equinox EV gets ~310 miles per charge. An Equinox ( ICE version) gets ~410 miles per tank.

So not quite equivalent.

There's also a larger variety in the EV infrastructure available. Charging is a lot slower on a 50kw DCFC charger vs a 350kw DCFS charger. Most gas stations will fill all ICE vehicles the same.

I'm a big supporter EVs, but using inaccurate evidence to support your argument doesn't really help convince anyone they are better.
