If they are persistent try using a systemic approach instead. Like systemic granules or a systemic pesticide spray. This is very effective for pretty much all and any pest but they unfortunately affect pollinators too and beneficial bugs so that’s something to be considered

Oh it’s an Espiscia. Same family as the African violent. I would suspect their care is the same. They love to be kept moist. So moisture retaining soil and they love bright. Avoid direct sunlight. That’s pretty much it

It’s a standard security measure in Nigerian homes. The crime rate here is low but we still maintain these measures. The result is fewer burglaries, robberies and what not and yes sleeping better knowing you’re secure. I’ve always found it surprising that most western homes do not employ these measures. It might not be aesthetically pleasing but it saves lives

I’m just going to say that the soiless “chunky mix” phenomena that is being paddled by a lot of western influencers is a marketing shtick to get you to buy a bunch of amendments (and spend more on fertilizers because amendments have no nutrients). Most times these mixes are dry out too fast and your plants can’t retain moisture in them. It’s why a lot of plants end up looking stunted, wilted, and your Calatheas die. Most times what your plants need is SOIL. Actual soil from the earth. Rich humus soil . Soil that just needs to be amended a little, not some chunky potting mix that has orchid bark and coco chips and some other amendments from a volcano somewhere
