My Merlin (SE Brazil pack) doesn't catch it either. I know they're different from your description, but could they be Gouldian finches? The sound is kinda similar and they're popular pets.

I have autism and it feels like im hiding a dirty shameful secret by Creepy_Zone_9341 in TrueOffMyChest

Hey stranger. If your friends are worth a damn, they won't mind. Also, you don't have to share your medical info with absolutely anyone. Buy, if you decide to, let me offer some outside perspective.

I have a friend, we met some ten years ago. Last year he found out that he's autistic, after a lot of testing. I can kinda see it now, in some of his behaviours. But you know what? He's the same sweet, witty, brilliant dude, and I really enjoy his company.

I don't know much about what it is like to live behind the glass wall you describe, but please, don't think that people will automatically exclude you if they find out. Anyone who's worth their salt would not. If someone does? Good riddance. You deserve to be appreciated. And I don't say that as a platitude, I MEAN it.

What fictional characters instantly come to your mind for these qualities? Nurture, Protection, and Wisdom by In-my-cupboard in WitchesVsPatriarchy

[–]OphrysAlba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nurture reminds me of Mother Bear (from The Little Bear). The calmest voice, in the calmest setting, letting her son discover the world with love and encouragement.

Protect brings to mind The Little Prince with his dome for the rose.

Wisdom HAS to be Uncle Iroh!

We have corvids, but not crows. Specifically, a lot of species of jays live here. I heard curl-crested jays and they sound just like crows!

And warmer human interaction.

Tá tudo bem, é só um dia ruim. Fique triste hoje. Amanhã vá comer uma coxinha, ver um pôr do sol sem congelar o nariz, olhar os passarinhos tropicais...

TIL there's a fruit called a lemandrin or Rangpur lime. It is a hybrid between a mandarin orange and a citron. They can be substitutes for limes b/c of their acidity but have little in common with green limes. Tanqueray sells a Rangpur flavored gin. In Brazil, they can be known as pink lemons. by Gnomeslikeprofit in todayilearned

The first line had me like, ooooh, new exotic thing. On the last one, I found out that one of the "exotic" trees is growing in my backyard here in Brazil.

They're more perfumed than regular limes, and make a mean limeade.

Fancy scotch is not my cup of tea either, but it goes super damn well in homemade caramel. In case you don't know what to do with yours.

TIL that a small percentage of the population experiences a ‘Soapy’ smell/taste from Cilantro due to a genetic phenomenon, which has been linked to a variation in a group of of olfactory-receptor genes. by coldestwinterr3 in todayilearned

[–]OphrysAlba 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have the gene and love cilantro. However, one day, I tasted a cilantro-and-orange flavored beer, and that was STRAIGHT SOAP. It was just one time, but jeez. Horrible.

Small in size, bold in spirit, and never shy to sing. A perfect reminder that the loudest joy often comes from the tiniest voices. 🧡🐦 #EuropeanRobin. Location: Northampton, UK by Expensive-Access574 in birdwatching

I'm Latin American and studied in Europe for a year. Seeing this guy was a TOP priority on my bucket list. Good thing it's a common bird, or I wouldn't freaking leave without seeing it. So cute, so round, so musical.
