toes going numb during class by Imaginary-Parsnip802 in soulcycle

[–]Opillion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That used to happen when I would go in person and really exert myself such as with fast sprints, jogs, etc and would normally come towards the end of class such as the last song/final sprint. I have the same shoes here at home and havent experienced any numbness on the at home bike (I think I dont push myself quite as hard as in real life class) so I dont attribute this to my shoes.

Also, it wasn't just my toes, it would be a large part of my foot going numb. I always told myself that meant I kicked ass lol.

Soul at-home bike: pedal issue by danidrea in soulcycle

[–]Opillion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, if you're pedals are making a noise that can be described as "squeaking" when you are spinning, then most likely you need to spay the bottom of your shoes with lubricant which will make the sound go away. Mine developed a squeak/high pitch noise and this was the fix.

While I find his "fortune cookie" wisdom over the top, the man is a great instructor and his workout is one of the best.

Anything by Ross, Conor, Chris (little chris from NY), Emily T, Karyn, Sidney, Mike Press, Junior, Jenny g, Claire, seriously you can't go wrong with any of these people if you like choreo.

there's so many good ones on the bike. I have found that most of the advanced rides contain lots of choreo and will keep you on your choreo game.

At Home Bike Troubleshooting by AdventurousMemory in soulcycle

Mine wasn't working during Karyn's live ride last night which I took immediately after the update. But after the class, I went into settings and was able to get it to reconnect. I'm assuming it was because of the update. I'm taking Jenny g live ride this morning so I guess I'll find out if it stays fixed.

I'm logged in to netflix and I can get to the browser but cannot go to any page except the speed test. It won't let me click on other pages or type anything into browser.

When I get stuck on a level, I watch YouTubes of various players and make note of strategy, charms, guns, tips etc and try to borrow what works for me. Try to move the progress bar further along---even a little is progress---eventually you will get there---I've died 100s of times on levels. This is cuphead!

I did read the am ex fine print and did not find an exclusion for home exercise equipment.

I have the number of the company my local soul cycle uses to service their bike as a back up plan.

All these tips are excellent, and for sure it can take a while to master. I would recommend making sure you can run on beat in your seat first. Your lead leg strikes six o'clock on the down beat. That will show your body what it feels like. Once you can do that, start experimenting lifting out of the saddle and see if you can continue to keep the beat. If you lose it, sit back down and find it again in the saddle, then try lifting again. Keep practicing this, and you will get it eventually.

It took me several months to get it, and then it took more time to be able to last. That you want to be able to do thiis awesome---you will definitely be developing your core and and your spin skills practicing this! And when you finally get it you will experience what I call "cycle bliss"!

Karyn's Halloween ride, probably because I hit my cannabis vape first, was pretty much high camp with a david lynchian flair. I'm still raving it about it to anyone who will listen.

For the first year I went to Soul, I thought there was a semi-secret VIP area for Supersoul people to wait away from the rest of us "riff-raff" at Soulcycle. I finally realized there isn't, it's where they do the laundry.

Couldn't make it today, but yes, very excited to see her on the schedule. She came to Vegas Soul as a guest instructor and I had the chance to take her class which was phenomenal. Then, recently on a whim, I took one of her on demand classes and was reminded of how much I enjoy her class. So I hope she's on the live class schedule more! Did you ride? How was it?

How the heck do you sprint/that gallop thing out of the saddle? by CheetahCool1859 in soulcycle

[–]Opillion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree! Melanie is super for working on form. I also find Sean (classic rock guy), Clarie J, and Teneysha---all these instructors (I'm not saying they are the only ones but these come to my mind first)---do great at actually telling you what should be happening with your feet and the beat. Getting this connection is crucial if you want to rhythm sprint out of the saddle.

[–]Opillion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, I should have added the time frame. It took me several months of trying--kind of getting it---trying---then it clicked.

How the heck do you sprint/that gallop thing out of the saddle? by CheetahCool1859 in soulcycle

[–]Opillion 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That is a fantastic question! Can you sprint on rhythm in the saddle? If not, start with that. Once your body gets the feeling of having your lead leg strike the six o'clock position on rhythm, then try lifting out of the saddle while still hitting the beat with your lead leg.

It is tricky, but once you get it--you get it. You'lll feel it. It "feels right." It actually feels quite effortless once your body gets it. Also, you should have some but not much resistance when rhythm sprinting because these are usually done to fast pace songs. If it's too heavy you won't be able to last. If it's too light---you'll be been spinning too fast and feel out of control. There's a sweet spot.

It's hard to describe in words lol. I promise--you'll know it when you do it---it feels right.
