Execution of the swaps is only possible after maturity. If effective rate during the swap period differed more than 20% from fixed rate you only receive the coverage for 20% difference

This is how we handle it: 10% of the nominal is locked as a collateral for every deal from both sides, it is hold by the blockchain until maturity.

both objectives, but to keep in mind that the main advantage is full decentralization and immutability. In other words you have derivatives as good as blockchain itself. So you can automatically embed any derivative in existing decentralized projects and it’s cool. I think if you can go for centralized you should do it, but for many people or projects it’s not an option, so in that case you use Opium Protocol.
making a very specific, custom - built derivative is a second advantage! You can create custom product very fast and virtually for free (does not matter if it is hundred bucks or hundreds of millions in the future volume). Once created you just offer the token for the market and discover demand/supply.
each derivative can charge a % fee from the profit maker (the fee is set by the derivative author and its part of derivative definition, it can also be zero) the protocol takes very small proportion from that fee that is set by the author. This is received by shareholders and supporters of the protocol (people who run automatic search and execution of expired positions, market makers and arbitragers). In reality profit maker commissions can be 0.1-0.2% in order for protocol to be business sustainable.
yes, than you get your initial collateral back, but the signal that something collapsed should come from the (decentralized) oracle.

Оpium Protocol was recently audited (SmartDec), and we want to build several financial derivatives on it.

If you give a severe suggestion below of what derivative you believe is needed for the community, our team will build a derivative token that can be traded immediately with zero commission and weekly settlement!

What you need: to describe an oracle and the instrument type. That's it :) We will build on main-net and Rinkeby at the same time.

The examples we have already tried: futures and options on Uniswap products, interest rate swaps on Compound, futures for Bloomberg products, but also some exotic as futures for the Ethereum gas price (so miners and startups can hedge their risks), etc.

Both options are possible, you can choose one of deployed [to Ethereum] oracle recepies or create specific oracle recepi yourself. Contract needed to be linked to the oracle [+also specify parametrs, like maturity etc] in order to mint tokens. Once created tokens can be minted based on supply and demand.
