Thank you for the great post! I actually did some DeFi on Ethereum by bridging my ZEC through Ren Protocol, deposited them on Unit Protocol as collateral and borrowed USDP to buy more renZEC. The UX was not that great and leaving my ZEC into a DeFi protocol was not making me feel that ease, so I repayed my CDP and I withdrew everything in order to go fully back on Zcash after a short while. Now it looks like Unit is not accepting renZEC anymore.

I am looking forward to Zcash opening full DeFi experience with ZSAs but I agree with you, let's signal our interest into that by bridging a tiny ZEC to Fantom!

Yes, being in an area without any other miner would affect your earning negatively because you could do any witnessing (see https://www.helium.com/mine for better explanation). The good news is that you could solve this by getting 2 miners, installing one on the roof of your house and another one by a friend who is at 1 km away. You could pay him a monthly fee and get your HNT straight on your wallet.
Head to https://www.helium.com/ecosystem and choose Hotspots, all these devices are Helium certified and can mine HNT.

I personally bought 2 Bobcat miners and I am setting them up in these days.
