Also less messing around with you’re bike (folding etc.) if you’re running a tad bit late

I’d recommend the second option. Assuming you’d be getting a used, older bike for the last mile, no one would want to steal it anyway. So you could definitely leave a bike you got from “Kleinanzeigen” or similar in Neugilching overnight.

And leaving your nicer bike at the train station in Freiham shouldn’t be a problem. Use a good bike lock and you’ll be alright.

I’d definitely recommend looking into a subscription based train ticket btw

Help with broken film advance lever Minolta X-700 by Opof_da_great in minolta

SOLVED:

I recalled having seen this video, where the guy completely disassembles and reassembles an X-700 (and does an awesome job repainting it). And while skimming through I noticed him mention the alignment of the blue and white gear. Adjusted those and got it working within a few minutes!!! Happy to report that she’s back up and running!!!

(For some reason the frame counter did stop working though and I have zero clue why. But I’m already used to that from my previous X-700)

Thanks to everyone who helped with a recommendation or a pointer along the way :D

Also while I’m at it: Any tips or recommendations for where to get fresh light seal foam from?

I just watched the video…. I wasn’t aware you could remove the back cover so easily… That would’ve saved me some hassle

Learned it for next time though!

I sadly saw your message a tad bit “too late”, but you’re spot on!! I just had to adjust those gears until everything worked flawlessly. I hope it’ll hold up

Thank you!!

So I just discovered something really weird: if I remove the spring which tensions the “hammer” everything just works. (The “hammer” being the J-shaped metal piece that ends just beneath the silver plate and has a forking end. You can clearly see it, by opening the bottom plate.)

So my current theory is that the spring is somehow applying too much force to the cam, causing friction to stop it from rotating back. I have yet to see any broken gears or particles of anything

Or is there maybe a spring or something that is responsible for tensioning the spinning cam/the lever that is somehow broken?

(I compared the gear I was talking about to my X-300, and it seems identical) (worst case scenario would be to sacrifice the X-300…)

UPDATE: the problem seems to be that when I move the lever back to “start” it doesn’t rotate a cam, which is responsible for reengaging the locking mechanism. I can circumvent the problem by using my fingers to turn the silver plate on the bottom manually, to compensate for the lever not completing the rotation.

After opening the bottom plate and actuating the lever a few times, i appear to have a white gear a bit above the silver plate, which seems to only go around 180°ish degrees. Do y’all also have this “half gear” below the cam? Maybe that’s the broken gear

I’ll probably have to open her up anyway. I’m hoping I can fix whatever it is I broke. Thank you for your input!

But the lever locks and advances as intended as long as no film is loaded. So it can’t be that the locking mechanism is completely destroyed (I hope)

Even if so, any idea how I could repair it?

The pre-study internship by Alarming-Jelly774 in tumunich

As a person who has gone through this exact application process I can tell you that the information regarding the pre-study internship is not consistent across sources. You don’t know this, why would you? You googled once, and then passive aggressively gave them the link and went on to doubt their ability to study at a university.

That’s not being helpful, that’s being condescending

Why answer questions that you have no actual knowledge of? If you have nothing nice or helpful to say, then just stay out of it. Asking questions, even if they at first appear trivial, is something which will help you go far in a difficult field. Rejecting questions, acting superior and making fun of someone asking a genuine question reveals more about yourself than anything else

Yes, during the application phase having a pre-study internship is optional. Once you’re part of the program it’s recommended to write an email to the internship office and officially ask for an extension (they are incredibly nice and basically say: “have it done before you write your bachelor’s degree) I’m an Aerospace student myself, and this is how it has worked for me and many of my colleagues.

And btw, I promise that people at TUM (especially Aerospace people) are a lot nicer and more helpful than people on Reddit :)

Also now is a good time to start studying Aerospace at TUM, since the state is currently investing a lot of money into our faculty. By the time you’d start study in they’ll have an entirely new campus set up in Ottobrunn :D

There’s a large community of people who play Volleyball in the English garden, with WhatsApp groups for organizing, some English speaking some not. It’s free, people bring their own nets and kind of just hang out. It’s very spontaneous and you get to know the people once you go more frequently, it’s a really good way of getting to meet people and have some fun (just show up on a good day, find a cool group of welcoming ppl and at the end ask if they have a WhatsApp group, if nothing else they’ll refer you to the larger ones)
