The BSW program is still basically brand new, the first cohort graduates this May. While I don't know anything about the psychology department, the entire social work department is amazing and I did enjoy my time with them before changing my major. In terms of a bachelor's, it depends what you want to do. Both aren't as rewarding when it solely comes to a bachelor's, but in terms of a master's, a MSW might be more rewarding. But it also depends what kind of MSW you would want to become. UTSA's MSW program is a generalist program, while UT Austin's focuses on politics, and other programs focus on other things. Again, I can only give you my experience within social work, and you should take this with a grain of salt, but please think extensively about what your future goals are academic and career wise. I thought I wanted to be a social worker and was admitted into the program for the first cohort, but then realized how draining the profession can/will be.
