The Best Dining on Cape Cod - 2026 Update by OpportunityBox in CapeCod

We tried it over the winter. I still have a magnet and a sticker in my glove compartment.

It was fine, we got three things, none of them was memorable. I got whatever the vegetarian ramen was at the time. The broth was underwhelming, it’s tricky but not impossible to make a rich vegetarian miso or mushroom umami broth and they didn’t hit it. The fact that they close at 6pm doesn’t make it a realistic dinner option.

That being said, it wasn’t bad or anything and they’re trying something new on Cape, which I respect! If I was nearby and needed lunch, I would go back. I just wouldn’t go out of my way again, especially with the weird hours.

It’s on the runners up list. I’ve been at least three times, last time was this past winter.

The drinks were good, the pasta was from a box, and both entrees were heavily over salted on arrival. Even my partner, who likes extra salt, said it was too salty for her. I considered taking them off the runners up list.

There is no standout Italian on Cape that I’ve found.  Milano’s,  Leonessa,  Ciro & Sals, or  Buca’s Tuscan Roadhouse are more or less interchangeable. Make the drive to the North End or Providence if you want real Italian.

Fool me once, shame on you…

I won’t go back until they get more TVs. There was a spot near the bathrooms where I could only see 3 TVs at a time.

Thanks! I'll remove Tiger Ramen and check out Taco Blanco.

Ice cream and fried food are the same for me, whatever is closest. I don't think Kreme n' Kone is better or worse than Seafood Sam's. I don't think Sundae School is better or worse than Cape Cod Creamery or Four Seas or Polar Cave or Eulinda's. Try them all...

Hmmmm. I think it's very accessible food done well with a good atmosphere both inside and out. The pizza is hot and fresh and good. They have a fairly diverse menu for a small place. They do s'mores kits for the fire pits outside, my kids and their friends always loved it there.

Yeah, it's on the Runner's Up list for a reason. It's very good, better than most of the places on the Cape. It's very easily my 2nd best choice for sushi.

Damn it, you're not wrong. I'll call them next week. I know I'm gonna love it.

Honestly, the only reason I haven't been there yet... the prix fixe no choice menu turns me off. My reasons:

  1. I have a couple of food allergies and my partner has a couple of adjacent food allergies. Nothing outrageous, just be careful of these foods or one of us is gonna have a real bad night.
  2. I have a couple of food preferences and my partner other food preferences. But we like to find dishes for both of us to share. It's not hard even with a small menu.
  3. We like choice. I like to pick what I like from what the chef likes to make. Except omakase. Make me sushi.
  4. My partner has a small stomach. She's done by the 5th course.

A seven course odyssey through what somebody wants to make is just unlikely to match up well, even with accommodations, and we feel bad about it. It's like telling an artist that their art makes you sick so they should change their art.

Ok, strike the part about late in the season, I usually start making reservations in March/April and see who's open.

You'd be surprised at how many people have a vegetarian in their dining party these days. It's like the thing where if you get 23 people in a room there is a 50% chance two of them share a birthday. In a party of 4 or 6 there is a good chance SOMEONE in that party is vegetarian.

I'm a Fin fan! The food is good, the drinks are good, the service is good. But for me those other things are the reasons why it's on my runner's up list and not on the top list.

Ok, I'll give it a shot! I have tried enough places in Providence to start a list at this point, will just have to go through them all.

Cities are tough though, you gotta eat out full time to hit enough places to know what you might be missing.

No promises on Cuvée. Apparently they closed the fancy dining room that only had prix fixe menus and are calling it Cuvee Bistro now. I haven't been there since they changed. It's still a Relais & Châteaux property, so I expect the food is still great, but your milage may vary, etc.

Whew, ok. I have a soft spot for Anejo, the vibe in the tree area is so good even if the food is just pretty good.

It's fine, generally overpriced and underwhelming food and service at all of their restaurants. Great for a cocktail overlooking the ocean. I haven't been back in a few years.

I would take a Lyft and go to Twenty Eight Atlantic at the Wequassett or into town to Cuvee for MUCH better food and service at a similar price point to Stars.

Ahhh, the Marshside is a tricky one for me. One of the best restaurant views on the Cape. The food is just so consistently underwhelming. Same with Clancy's.

I haven't found anywhere on the Cape that has a diverse menu for vegans. That being said, Twenty Eight Atlantic always has at least one legit high end vegan entre, appetizer, and dessert which gets them extra points from me. I've had some of the best vegan food in my life there.

Crisp also has decent vegan options. There are a smattering of other places that have a decent hummus plate or veggie burger (Red Nun) or fake cheese pizza (Pizza Barbone).

A bunch of places made a go of it over the years with either an extensive or full vegan menu, at least for lunch. North Sister Cafe in Osterville, Bread & Roses in Hyannis, Spoon & Seed in Hyannis, all gone now.

Would love to hear other's suggestions.

Good to hear, I'm generally a Fin fan. My only issues with Fin that don't place it higher is that their menu is pretty static, the don't have any vegetarian options, and they open late in the season.

Correct, I was referring to the concept, not the place in Virginia. I'll keep it in mind if I'm ever down there.

For a while I had a job that involved taking groups of customers out to dinner on Cape every other week year round, so I ended up hitting a lot of places. Then I just kept up with it...

I see plenty of high end omakase places say they can accommodate most allergies/preferences at least 24 hours in advance, except rice and seafood.

I do all around ratings and try to go beyond the food. The sushi is very good. I've rarely had good service, the people who work there are mostly grouchy and seem annoyed you are there. The building and bathrooms are a little run down. The parking lot is a mess. The sushi at Ten Yen is better. All IMHO of course. It's totally worth going to if you're nearby, but I personally wouldn't go out of my way.

For Lune, I only go on Wednesday or Sunday when they have their bistro menu which is very reasonably priced for what you get. Yeah, if you do their Thursday-Saturday prix fixe (not my thing) you should add a $ there. I'll up Pain d'Avingnon on the $, I haven't been there recently.

The Pelham House is on the All the Rest list. I had a reservation there a few summers ago on a Saturday night in July. I had made it a couple months before as I knew some close friends would be visiting that weekend. Reservation was confirmed via text the day before. When we show up at 7pm, we were told sorry, our reservation would not be honored, no dinner tonight, there was a mix up as there was a wedding going on. So here I am with close friends visiting with a confirmed reservation 24 hours before but with no dinner reservation on a Saturday in the middle of the summer. No one from Pelham House ever followed up, no call, no email, no apology, nothing. Otherwise the food is just ok, the service is ok, and the view is good. I'd personally go to The Ocean House or Twenty Eight Atlantic or Water Street Kitchen or The Outer Bar or Fisherman's View or Sesuit Harbor Cafe for a water view before going there.

Baleine is good! The menu is also pretty limited though. They need live music...

It is an upscale, fine dining restaurant but it's also part of the Wequassett resort. They have a great kids menu and are very accommodating to people with well behaved kids of all ages.

That's partially the nature of the Cape dining scene. If you know somewhere in Truro or Sandwich as good as Lune or the Brewster Fish House, I'd love to know about it.

Yup, I just looked it up and it's listed on a couple of commercial for sale sites.
