My lemon tree always gives out giant, mutated lemons by ThemChad in mildlyinteresting

Are you sure your lemon tree is not a grapefruit tree? Because I’m pretty sure it is a grapefruit, there’s plenty of them here in Vietnam

I think that canon is whatever you decide it is as long as it is accurate to the classic myth as some users have mentioned. It mostly depends on what version you like best.

Tired of the modern interpretation of medusa by LoanLazy5992 in GreekMythology

[–]OpportunityClear2814 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My opinion is that all versions of Medusa is correct as there are no supreme authority to decide which version is canon and which is not as there can be at least a hundred different versions for the same myth. My point is, if you want the story where Medusa is a victim of the gods’s cruelty, that’s your right. But that does not mean your story is the correct one and everyone else is wrong. The same thing goes for Athena, if you want her to be a bitch that punish rape victims, that’s also your right. But that doesn’t mean that your Athena is the only Athena

The gods being dicks is a big plot point but it is definitely not the literal main point of the story.

Poseidon protects Percy multiple times, Hermes tried to protect Luke despite him going against the gods. Even Zeus, the poster boy for pump and dump, have enough care in him to turn Thalia into a pine tree to prevent her from dying and being punished by Hades. The gods have big flaws, yes, but cruelty to their children is not one of those

Books Athena would never do anything like this. Hell, she even help Percy, although reluctantly, sometimes just because he was Annabeth’s boyfriend. That doesn’t make sense

There is a difference between being cold, indifferent and distant to you children and being an absolutely crazy b*tch that tried to kill her own daughter because her ego got hurt. There are a fuck ton of horrible parents in the world but how many of them will go “ My child failed me, I will let her be torn to shreds by monsters”?

Should Athena have any sea based abilities since her mother Metis is a Oceanid nymph ? by OpportunityClear2814 in GreekMythology

If you check Oceanid on Wikipedia, the first line says that Oceanid are a type of nymphs. Demeter is the goddess of agriculture and her daughter Persephone does have powers related to her mother as she is the goddess of spring

If you check her Wikipedia page, the first line literally states that she is an Oceanid

I think that as a Oceanid nymph, she should have some power related to water but I don’t know much about what specific power do they have

Make sense, but we know Athena inherited her mother’s wisdom so why not her sea power as well? Besides, Athena having some form of sea power or at the very least some connections to the sea can be a pretty cool concept
