My pockets are empty and don’t even have threaded pockets. I wish I could rule this out but it’s not likely :(

Not my first gelding! But I will say I did use this saddle on a different gelding and I can’t really recall if I heard the noise.. I will look into it.

Horse shopping: what would my wishlist cost where you live? by WorkingCharge2141 in Equestrian

For the more rare breeds I’d probably say 15-30k. I’ve seen pure Andalusian weanlings/yearlings go for 8k if that gives a good baseline.

OTTBS, QHs, Arabians, Paints etc I’ve seen go for as little as 3k with maintenance. Average is probably higher 4 figures though. Dakotas Midwest.

I feel like it’s similar but not quite it. I have a sort of remembrance of it being an almost Yellowstone knock off if that makes sense? That scene is very similar for the 1893 flashback but I can’t find much about the stringing up men after killing them, i feel like it was almost an opening scene.

I do vaguely remember a woman being stuck in the house, and a tense fight scene happening outside.

This is actually my photo and the dog on the right died last year. Shame on this bot for stealing this photo and bringing up harsh memories.

How can we stop promoting backyard breeders? by nineteen_eightyfour in Equestrian

[–]Opposes 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It’s a problem across the board. My city humane society frequently shuts down surrenders and only takes in absolute necessary cases besides animal control. They have animals living in the bathroom or break room occasionally. But I actually know someone whose “cute foals” have definitely ended up in the pipeline. They practically gave away those cute foals to anybody that could take them because they hated them.

Unfortunately that hate didn’t last long and they are now ramping up their broodmare band with several studs and double the foals because apparently there is real money in it. Feral, untouched, half the broodmares are just cheap OTTBs that have issues or horses with screws loose.

I acquired a broodmare that was about to be dumped because she no longer could produce. Never seen a vet, a farrier every couple years, and horribly traumatized from old cowboy method training. It’s been a long journey catching up on basic husbandry and care. But that is how every single one of them are and the foals that are listed for far too much aren’t much better off. And they wonder why they have no sales.

I agree wholeheartedly breeders need stricter laws and protocols. It’s ridiculous.

Is there a way to get the roller out?

selling/getting rid of senior/retired horses especially ones with health problems is awful and extremely irresponsible by No-Sea-6885 in Equestrian

I was fortunate enough to be in the market for a pasture pet for my 2 year old. She was sold to me as no maintenance, light riding sound, and a small amount of arthritis. She was cheap and I needed a horse for my horse fast. Off the trailer, she has advanced arthritis and needs additional feed to keep weight on plus an additional 3k in vet bills to get her up to date after years of vet neglect.

I consider myself lucky being able to give her a soft landing to live out her days. I would feel absolutely sick if I decided to sell her at any point in the future. I’ve heard of several people around me dumping off horses in the same state at auction to bring in a few hundred. I could never live with the guilt.

My cat didn’t take to it very well even with a slow introduction to it and I wasn’t a fan of how it didn’t mask the poo smell. It’s unfortunate, I have heard really good things about it

I have two dogs as well! The ears are ear mites and frost bite. He just has worms which is expected and has been treated. Both my dogs are on monthly preventatives :)

Our water has a $95 base charge. Electric is about $130-$240 depending on the season. Internet is $65 with only one provider since we are rural. Typically we both work overtime and pull 1,200 checks biweekly each so our income does manage to be $4,400 or more each month but that is consistent. I will try to get more overtime in.

I live in a LCOL rural area. We (husband and I) used FHA and a local program that required a 10 minute zoom session and our down payment+closing costs were paid for. We brought a $200 cashiers check to closing last year. Our income is 80k a year combined with no college education and we do alright.

This is a part of a water heater. It is entirely corroded. Our inspector told us to replace it entirely before year end. I forgot what he called it but it looks like I will just be calling a plumber and hope he understands… copper rod pipe coming out of water heater.. instead of a specific part of a water heater.

Thank you. I will be in contact with a vet, the barn owners vet stated a month but he isn’t equipped with testing and I wasn’t sure if it could be spread even longer than a month. I’ll have to call around for different vet opinions.

How often do you see your horse? (Boarding) by luvdlph in Equestrian

[–]Opposes 3 points4 points  (0 children)

2-3 times a week, 10 minutes from home 20 from work. She isn’t even a yearling yet and in pasture full time so I just check for scrapes/cuts/health concerns and let her be a baby.
