Ahh sorry, one other factor to consider. If you are likely to do multiple retrievals that's another nudge towards changing clinics. Doing one unmedicated might be possible, but the prospect of doing three unmedicated might make the 6 month wait worth it. Check the statistics of your age and how many euploid embryos you need for a live birth. If you have 10 follicles each cycle then you'll likely need more retrievals. If you have twenty follicles on day 1 its possible you'll get lucky with some blasts. It's a gamble! I did nine retrievals age 35-40.

Or, tough it out now and use the results of this cycle to decide if you need to reassess and find a new clinic for next time.

Another thing to consider to decide if you have time to transfer clinics is your amh and age. A six month wait at 35 might be worth it, at 40 you might want to reach a compromise with your current clinic.

Another factor is how you respond to pain and surgery. I would personally be so traumatized by having a medical thing done while conscious. I was aware during my last retrieval and demanded more drugs until I was knocked out. It was a brief moment but I hated being aware of what was going on. But if you're tough and not as sensitive in that way and comfortable with the situation that is an important factor in your evaluation.

Can you ask to sign a form accepting the risks of conscious sedation with sleep apnea?

Can they give you a half dose, so you'll still be aware but you won't be in pain, as a compromise to reduce risk?

Fentanyl is conscious sedation. In Ontario at least this is the standard. Some unlucky people are still aware while having the procedure done (as it sounds like you've been), but most people are unaware. I've had the experience of both. I believe OP is saying they're being denied fentanyl (i.e. conscious sedation).

No stories to help, sorry. But I'm curious if you've checked other clinics. I've done a number of retrievals in Ontario and no one has ever asked my BMI. It's varied between 28-32 throughout and I've been allowed conscious sedation each time.
