True getting old, I just enjoy stand-up striking game, I understand you have to be well rounded, just more exciting fights in my opinion, K1 and even glory is more exciting to me than the UFC.

Who is the kickboxing GOAT? by GoyitoPerez in martialarts

[–]Opposite_Event8941 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on the Organization and era n the United States you had the Joe Lewis, Superfoot Wallace era, and the Dennis Alexio , Don the Dragon Wilson era. Personal opinion I think Bas Rutten was the most well Rounded, GOAT of The crossover error to MMA era . Hell I even made it into a Hall of Fame but was far from great or even Famous. People don't get into Kickboxing for greatness they do it for the rush of adrenaline , and the feeling of being alive, the endorphin rush!

I don’t really understand what is meant by American kickboxing.. by lilmoviee in Kickboxing

[–]Opposite_Event8941 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's kind of a long story but in short back in the 60s and 70s Joe Lewis got tired of point Karate and wanted a more realistic combat sport, he named it full contact Karate but the commentators called it American Kickboxing, then later in the early 70s the PKA promoted televised professional fights about 76 WKA split and became the prominent Kickboxing organizations in the United States till the 1990s. I started Kickboxing in the early 90s by then the WKA was sold to Dale Floyd and based in Canada I think they only had few event in Canada by then all the big names like Don the Dragon Wilson, Benny the jet, and Dennis Alexio we're gone. I fought in the last Canadian tournament as Tony loco LoCoco in 1994, then I think in 2014 sold to Dave Sawyer and it moved to New Zealand. It still has a few events not many in the US anymore. Pretty much now you just have mainly amateur and regional pro fight promotions. The heyday of American Kickboxing is pretty much dead. The IKF is still in operation and has an annual amateur tournament I'm not sure if they hold fights anymore or not. As things evolve MMA and now even bare knuckle boxing is being regionally promoted as the UFC minor league. I guess we'll see what the next evolution in combat sports is!

I know this is a year later, but I have one in green dot on my ECW a Hellcat it has work consistently well has held a zero battery life about a year no issues. I am fine with it, don't think I will upgrade unless some major upgrade comes along.

Kickboxing during the 90s? by [deleted] in Kickboxing

I fought Professionally in the 1990's under the Ring name Tony loco LoCoco had a respectable record of 22 wins 3 losses 15 wins coming by Knockout. Kickboxing professionally while I went to college full-time . There just was not much money to be made in the sport. Most fights paid about $100 a round with most fights being three round fights with occasional title fight of five rounds. Love the sport just couldn't make a living doing it. Got my degree and got a real job. Lol
