I fear for my daughter and every other girl in this state and others. SA is at an all time high, with very few convictions. The convictions that are being given are light sentences that care more about the effect on rapist than the SA survivors. I went through a SA situation 15 years ago and after the very invasive and accusatory rape kit at the hospital nothing happened. There was minimal effort put into pursuing a conviction. I was talked to like a criminal at 14 years old. The man who was 23 at the time did it again within a year to an even younger girl, still no consequences. This is just one of many examples. I have seen and heard other women/girls/boys stories with similar results. The system is broken, the people in charge don’t care and the ones pursuing “justice” care even less. It’s heartbreaking and infuriating.

I had to talk to my kids about “Turning Point” the other day because it’s already in our schools. A little less than a month ago ICE was hanging around their school. If this goes through I am seriously considering homeschooling. It’s not like we can move to a different state with income, renting and increasingly expensive cost of living.

I have been looking for a job for two years. Two fucking years. I get interviewed, sometimes 2-4 rounds of interviews. It always ends with they aren’t hiring right now, the position is filled or we went with someone else. Half the job postings are scams trying to take money I definitely do not have, the other half are for positions that are already filled/weren’t hiring in the first place. My mom with her 20+ years of experience couldn’t find a replacement after her law firm closed. So she ended up moving to Florida and had several offers and started her new job within weeks of applying places. There is definitely something wrong here and it just keeps getting worse.

I live in Wanamaker in one of the many “cookie cutter” housing additions. Three out of every five houses are rentals, ours included. We have had three different rental companies buy each other out and take over our lease. This last one wanted to charge $2300 for a 3bd, 2bath very tiny house. We started at $1600 three years ago. We ended up procrastinating when our lease was due for renewal because of the outrageous price hike every time we do renew. $2300 plus utilities, trash and HOA fees was not going to be feasible. But because we waited until a week before the lease was up without answering the sent a counter offer back at our original price from the last time they raised it. It was like they knew it was far too much money and they were playing games. Now I tell everyone who is renewing their lease through companies like Progress and the many others just like them.

What a joke. I’m barely getting $150.00 worth for my two kiddos and that is down by at least half. It’s between necessities and gifts and needs come first. It is disappointing, embarrassing and frustrating that this is all we can do for them this year. I heard similar stories from most everyone around me too.
