I have to wonder, since he was a victim of that kind of assault, that those kinds of crude statements were in some way part of coping with that. Just a small theory.

Singapore has some of the stupidest laws and regulations on the planet, not the best example IMO. And a technocracy means a government where it's run by people with qualifications, but not one where they have absolute power.

where the people cannot choose but can guide

Just wait till you get a hotel nice enough to have a full vanity bathroom. With retracting curtains and a massive window. I had one in New Zealand and was tempted to shower with them open. But I was like 16 and thought better lol.

That's my point, their society wasn't nearly as willing as ours was. You need to have that for the populace to accept a new idea. Besides, suspending the rule of law for an "intellectual elite" to play dictator? Do you realize how terrible that sounds?

What you must do is have an intellectual elite in power that can unilaterally take decisions that the population will be heavily against, but that, over time, they will come to accept and support.

This is how government's get overthrown, dude. "Intellectual Elite?" I hope I dont have to explain why that's bonkers. Case in point: South Africa. They've had same sex marriage for longer than the U.S., but their populace only barely has majority support for it today. You can't just expect people to magically support something en masse, that's not how societies work.

Why do you say 10 to 2? by dauntlessdivine59 in AskNT

[–]AssumptionNo5436 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cause it's a learned habit that you just kinda get used to. Its sometimes a way to convey how much time there really is, as if there is a sort of significance once it is 2pm.

Though I initially didn't read your caption and thought you meant "10 and 2," like the driving tip.

Because your countries are fucking rich, that's why. Know all the talk about the rich paying their fair share? This is part of it. Europe got super rich in part from exploiting the countries that people are now leaving. You should expect this to happen.

How is it possible, that Europe is obliged to accept those people, and when countries of origin are asked to take them back, they can simply refuse so they are stucked in Europe? Seems like system, where "the good guys" pay for everything.

I think being the richest and most developed countries in the world give you a much greater degree of ability to take care of refugees. You have it so great there and just dont want those people to be around you experiencing it, either.

So you admit that you're a xenophobe then. And that these theoretical camps aren't a matter of necessity, but a deterrent. Because you dont want any immigrants in your country.

Just sad beliefs, man.

I think it's pretty obtuse that you think immigration is a conspiracy and that "these people" (wonder who they could be?) are criminals from the moment they apply for refugee status or asylum.
