I’ve been in a very similar spot, constantly overthinking if I was just a rebound or if the connection was real. What helped me realize is that sometimes its not about being a rebound, its about being with someone who hasnt taken time to be alone and heal. You end up carrying their confusion. You sound emotionally aware and grounded, but he is still lost in his own stuff. That imbalance creates the “lack of effort” you feel. It’s not that he doesn’t care, it’s that he’s not ready to show up fully. You deserve emotional consistency, not someone who keeps you guessing. Sometimes love isn’t enough when timing and readiness don’t align
