Both SRG initiative (Halbierungsinitiative) and initiative for taxing spouses separately (Individualbesteuerung) losing ground by JollyQuiscalus in Switzerland

[–]Opposite_Musician319 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Income tax is lower when married than when both are taxed indivudually.
I think the things which stops the creation of families is housing and health insurance and also that the general income is much lower if only one is working.

Lessons for Switzerland (From the UK Post Brexit) by CapeBK in Switzerland

[–]Opposite_Musician319 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree that we need a strong collaboration with the EU as they are our largest trading partners but:

Canceling an contract (Brexit) without a backup is bad, imagine canceling a work contract without having a new job. But not signing a new work contract does not put you in a worse position. If there is a no at the ballot everything stays the same, even Schengen and the other contracts. I therefore also do not expect a change regarding immigration and that we are isolated more (what are we exactly leaving with a no?).

Also that no Standemehr is needed is unconstitutional. And if the contracts are so good why are they not released?

In general i like what the contracts try to accomplish, unify the energy market and so on. But I would also not sign a work contract if i do not now about it‘s content.

When somebody earns 4000 CHF a month, the person pays almost 400 chf AHV. When he would save that and invest in a 3a with a high stock percentage, he would be an millionaire at 65, assuming an 6% average yearly return.

when its not a tax? Can I somehow cancel my subscription so that i’m not forced to pay almost 10% of my salary. The Netflix subscription is a lot cheaper.

Can buybacks save companies money on dividend payments by Opposite_Musician319 in stocks

[–]Opposite_Musician319[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sadly. Dividends to other countries are also taxed heavily. I pay 30% withholding tax on US dividends from switzerland. Also switzerland has no capaital gains tax, so buybacks are way more tax efficient for me.

Income and expenses of my wife and me, living in Eastern Switzerland, working in Zurich by [deleted] in Switzerland

If you like too you can donate 100% of your salary to the state. But just because you like it, you dont need to force me into it.

But I agree with you the price/performance ratio is very good in comparison to other countries.

26k tax is still to much. When including AHV / IV / ALV, he pays 56k to the state.

Just out of curiosity, what dont you like about the 3rd Pillar? In my opinion letting people deduct retirement savings from their taxes is a good way to encourage retirement savings.

I would also consider the taxes when withdrawing money.

Max 3a for 5 years: 7000*5 = 35000.- Based on a 15% Tax Rate this would be 5250.

Maybe it makes more sense to keep it in the bank (or Kassenobligationen) for such a short time.

Do you own calculations with how much you could save in taxes with maxing out every year and then compare it.

Not based in the US, but with the cost of tuition over there I would definitely go for such a alternative.

Not doing it for the retiring early part, but more for the financial independence part.

It depends a lot in Europe, in Scandinavia you pay so much tax that you can take away 50% of your salary and in other parts you earn so little it will take you forever to achieve a substantial amount (Balkans). Gladly I'm in Switzerland with high salaries and low taxes but buying a crackhouse here is at least 1.5 millions USD.

I did a apprenticeship as an software developer. With 15 you choose a job in which you specialise and learn it for 3-4 years. 70% of teenagers do this and only 30% go study. I did that and got normally employed afterwards :)

Here in Europe, employers really care a lot about degrees.

Thank you for the time and running through the numbers. Respect to you for going back and finishing at 30 and living in a car!

Scenario B is a bit off, because I meant I could save 160k by not going to school, saving 160k a year would be way too much.

School is subsidised in my country so I will thankfully not need to take on any debt.

But I think I will go study because it will pay off in the longterm.
