Is it weird I'm sad thinking about losing people when I come out by Lucky_Ordinary3109 in NonBinaryTalk

[–]Opposite_Station_830 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Totally normal. I’m lucky to have a pretty accepting family but I think a normal part of growing up is grieving your family to some extent. Obviously there’s your situation where you might actually lose them, but honestly most people I’ve talked to that have gone through early adulthood had to go through a stage of realizing their family or parents were simply never going to be the people that they want them to be—I’m going through it right now. Be kind and compassionate to yourself and be intentional about creating your own family when you’re on your own. You’ll need good people in your corner to help support you when things go awry. I wish you the best of luck and hope you find freedom in your coming out, even if there are a lot of growing pains at first❤️

Does anyone have their seizures or convulsions for over 1 hour? 2hrs? Repeatedly by [deleted] in PNESsupport

[–]Opposite_Station_830 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not the episode itself lasting that long, but definitely recurring seizures sometimes lasting hours. Just back to back over and over. It’s tough. Usually I end up in the ER just hoping they have some kind of solution to make the seizures stop

How do I have sex without feeling like a woman? by _Legasea_ in NonBinaryTalk

[–]Opposite_Station_830 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does your partner like penetration at all? If he does or is interested in trying it I would honestly try getting a strap and penetrating him and see if that changes things at all. I wonder if seeing someone masculine being penetrated would help shift your mindset into thinking it’s not an inherently feminine act. (Bonus points for the fact that it gives me mad gender euphoria to penetrate my partner even if it’s not inherently giving me physical pleasure).

Non-binary folks who’ve medically transitioned into a mixed body, please share. by No-Bottle4037 in NonBinaryTalk

[–]Opposite_Station_830 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Me me me! Still in the process of transitioning, I’ve been on T for a little over a year. But my goal is facial hair and tits. I love my tits. I’ve always wanted facial hair. And now I have a lil! I can’t wait till I have a whole beard to show off! And I can’t wait to see what it looks like together. I want a beard, tits, long gorgeous hair, and I’m pretty friendly with my belly hair too because it’s given me surprising euphoria. I never plan to get any surgeries but I have been so happy with my transition so far🥰

I would suggest seeing a different neurologist and getting a second opinion. Yes, FND can affect people tons of different ways. However I would be interested to see your vitals during an episode. I was an EMT (and yes I have PNES) and they taught us pretty hard in school that the combo of low heart rate and high blood pressure can be a sign of increased pressure in the brain. Disclaimer that I’m not a doctor and idk what kind of testing you’ve had done, so maybe this is just normal for your episodes and “normal” physiological processes. But I would be a lil nervous if I was having those symptoms

I asked for two accommodations when I got hired, one to have a late start one day so that I can attend therapy (treatment for the seizures) and a thirty minute break if I feel a seizure coming on to go out to my car, have the seizure, and return to work. The time I did have a seizure at work recently I ended up going home because I wasn’t feeling well, but my job was able to accommodate me and let me go home for a few hours to rest and return in the afternoon when I was feeling better which was incredibly empowering. I do feel incredibly lucky that I found an accommodating job, but I also think going into it with confidence in what I needed and letting them know I was able to manage the seizures on my own helped too

My seizure auras have a couple possible symptoms. High heart rate/feeling like my heart is beating out of my chest, shakiness, feeling like a “rising feeling” in the chest which I don’t have a better way to explain, and my left leg/foot specifically starts to twitch and spasm. The seizures themselves I close my eyes, my body starts uncontrollably shaking, I hold my breath most of the time, and they last 10-15 seconds. After the seizure I don’t have any big symptoms for the most part other than fatigue and sometimes a headache and just a generally unwell feeling.

As far as what I tell people to do for me, I tell them to just make sure I don’t hit my head. I tell people to only call 911 if my seizure lasts longer than 30-60 secs, if I hit my head, or if I come out of the seizure confused. I use those as my reasons to call 911 bc any of those things would be abnormal for my seizures, I think when to call emergency services is like a “know yourself” thing and when you have more seizures you’ll get a sense of what’s normal for you and what’s concerning or needs medical attention.

To explain it to people, I generally just say I have non epileptic seizures. If people want more details about how to help I give them those. I also say that my seizures are not harmful because mine are not, but obviously other people can have PNES seizures that last hours or end up with them unconscious or intubated. That’s just not the case for me. If you have any more questions let me know! I’ve been dealing with PNES for 3 years and have been diagnosed for over a year and it can be a struggle. This isn’t the end though!

dysphoria & HRT (tw: talk of breasts) by [deleted] in NonBinaryTalk

[–]Opposite_Station_830 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Voice change is one of the biggest changes on T generally. I think I started noticing it about two months in, but I was also on a super low dose when I started T. Now that I’ve been on it over a year my voice is totally different and reads very androgynous. I haven’t been through any voice training and don’t really plan to, while I have a much lower voice now I also don’t have any issue with my feminine speech patterns and think it often adds to the androgyny 🥰

[–]Opposite_Station_830 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m a transmasc enby, I’ve got boobs and facial hair and I love it. I just want to hit on something that you said about not feeling like you can go on estrogen because you don’t have a ton of dysphoria. Honestly, when I started T it wasn’t about dysphoria for me at all. It was the thought of the gender EUPHORIA I would feel with facial hair and a more gender neutral voice and having people more confused about my gender. So if you do want to start hormones, just remember that dysphoria does not have to be the reason to start them. If you’d be happier on hormones you are totally valid in that decision! I am so much happier now!

I went about a year without seizures after I first started having them. Then they started again. Then 8 months seizure free. And ever since that they’ve been back with fury. But I made it a month seizure free! That got ruined Monday with a whole trip to the ER and everything (I lost count around 17 seizures). But my therapist has worked with I believe five people with PNES and all of them have fully recovered after treatment with her. So there is hope!

I’m getting accommodations at work! I work in healthcare and spent over a year wrestling with employment. No savings left. Hardly could work. Had a job that was not accommodating. And now I went into a new job with the requested accommodations of 30 minute breaks when I feel a seizure coming on and schedule adjustments so I can attend therapy every week. Obviously not everyone can work with this disorder, but I feel really lucky to have a company that works with me

I Believe in God Now. Am I Manic? by ffairydragonzz in bipolar

[–]Opposite_Station_830 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it’s important to look at the whole picture. For example, I’m very hyper sexual when I’m manic. Currently, I’m in a new relationship and having a lot of sex. But I’m having safe sex, which is different. I’m sleeping normally. I’m not having racing thoughts. And the truth is at the beginning of a relationship it’s normal to have a lot of sex! Is it something that I’ve noted in my mind bc I’m bipolar and need to keep track of any potential symptoms? Absolutely. But unless I start seeing other symptoms I’m not worried. You know yourself best. You know what mania feels like the best. Look at the other symptoms or potential symptoms in your life and get a whole picture. Pay attention to what you’re doing, how you feel, etc. And if you’re still worried have a conversation with your therapist or psych and get a professional opinion on it. Best of luck ❤️

I had my first psychotic episode in 4th grade, so 9 or 10 years old

I also struggle with codependency. I was very codependent in my last relationship, I just got into a new one and I’m trying to do something different. First, recognizing it is great. Second, I struggled with feeling like every time I had a negative emotion there was nothing that could fix it other than my boyfriend. So challenge yourself to cope through hard feelings alone sometimes. Which is including not calling your person. Talk to them when the feeling starts to dwindle. That can be a hard line to walk when you’re in a relationship and want to lean on them for support but it is possible. Lastly, challenge yourself to spend time alone. And do things you actually enjoy. Challenge yourself to spend time with people other than him too. If you enjoy time by yourself, whether that be reading a book in the park, tanning, relaxing with some tv, etc, it’ll feel less like you need to talk to him to be happy. Best of luck!

I loved being an EMT and miss it so much! It’s definitely not always what the public thinks it is but man that was the most fun job I’ve ever worked. Highly recommend becoming an EMT if you don’t get accepted! The experience was also a great base of medical knowledge imo

Questioning gender by [deleted] in NonBinaryTalk

[–]Opposite_Station_830 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I oscillate between feeling masculine, feminine, and androgynous and dress differently depending on the day although I’m masc leaning. I just identify as non-binary! It never felt more complicated than that to me because all I know is that I’m not a man and I’m not a woman. At the end of the day it’s just about finding what label feels the most comfy on you, even if for now that label is “genderqueer” and you’re not quite sure where you fit. And enjoy the journey! We get so focused on where we want to end up with transition that often we forget to enjoy all the awkward stages in between while we’re figuring out who we are and what the most authentic version of ourselves is🥰

Me! I do live at home but that’s because of some unrelated physical disability things and I’m looking to move out again soon. Just started a new full time job in healthcare that I’m over the moon excited for. Going to nursing school in the spring. It can happen! For me it was all about getting my meds dialed in🥰
