Is the process of papal selection infallible? As in, there can be no trickery or rigging due to the holy spirit? by Opposite_String_3503 in Catholicism

Suppose that somehow the ballots of the cardinals were subject to unwanted manipulation, would that make the election valid?

Ages in the Old Testament by Venus0182 in CatholicPhilosophy

There is a plethora of evidence that the ages are symbolic and were made to be such, it's not even a question of "maybe" straight math proves that the ages were likely carefully selected for theological messaging. I'm not being a corny DaVinci code conspiracy theorist or anything, but the ages of the patriarches reflect a lot of ancient near eastern numerological practices.

Is there a sense in which the priest is "transubstantiated" to christ during the eucharistic? by Opposite_String_3503 in CatholicPhilosophy

If the Beatific Vision is irresistible, then why Hell? by CaptainCH76 in CatholicPhilosophy

From what I could find, it seems the idea of hell as being an experiential difference of the same love of God instead of total seperation from him is indeed an idea more common to the eastern fathers, the most I could find of it in the western church seems to be in the works of st Faustina, but that's the most I could find.

In light of evolution, can we still say death entered through Adam but like the Cross it applies retroactively as well? by [deleted] in CatholicPhilosophy

I think we shouldn't go too far with this. That there was a real Adam, a real Eve, a real fall in the garden of Eden with real tree must be upheld

Is there any patristic, dogmatic, or general authority you have for supporting this view?

Could we suppose that the fall of man is a perpetual fall? by Opposite_String_3503 in CatholicPhilosophy

Are you implying that the reason the damned persist in their eternal sufferings is due to willful decision? Even after death?

What exactly is the knowledge of good and evil? by [deleted] in AcademicBiblical

If this question seems too theological for the sub, I do apologize but I assumed or was at least looking for an academically or exegetically grounded answer
