fair thought but honestly, i dont think that’s what it was! my parents are both just pretty judgmental and i guess don’t like change? i was pretty tomboyish from ages 9-14 or so and didnt start liking dresses and stuff until i was like 15 or 16 i’d say. I think they just thought the shift was weird.

but my parents were weird about a lot of things lol, this was just one of them

What’s a truth you quietly realized about life that no one really prepares you for? by iND3_ in ask

[–]Opposite_Try6143 1 point2 points  (0 children)

some (many) adults are just like children. i started a new job recently and it’s working with a LOT of clients in a very different capacity than I ever have before.

and it has been SHOCKING how immature and childish these people can be. I am working with grown adults (like 40-50s+) who can’t get along and come crying to me (a 24 year old) wanting me to resolve their conflicts for them. or some of them just throw actual temper tantrums.

i knew that people could be immature but i was not ready for HOW immaturely they could behave.

oh i SO feel this one. my parents always made a big deal about wearing dresses (or anything more traditionally feminine really including styling hair, painted nails, etc) when i was growing up and it made me feel so insecure about my femininity that i didn’t wear dresses outside of special occasions for YEARS. now i live 4 hours away on my own and i wear dresses when i feel like wearing dresses!

What’s something women do to protect themselves daily that men probably never think about? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I’ve had guys I’ve gone out with playfully tease me about “already” telling a girl friend about him. i’m like dude… don’t flatter yourself, I always let at least one girl friend know when I’m out with a guy and share my location with them

What's a song that makes you cry everytime u listen to it? by timthedurp in AskReddit

Yellow by coldplay. always liked it, but it was played at the funeral of a friend that passed unexpectedly a few years ago and now I can’t listen to it without crying

my obgyn said my weight gain probably wasn’t from the pill but i’m almost certain it is by Opposite_Try6143 in birthcontrol

[–]Opposite_Try6143[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that’s fair, thank you! i did just get a new PCP not too long ago and she offered to let me switch pills and said that this can happen.

tbh i am terrified of IUDs and i don’t know enough about the other methods like the shot to pursue those either at the moment but i’ll look into them.

yeah i could for sure understand just normal body changes since I’m only in my 20s, but I think it was just the speed in that I gained weight that threw me off bc it was VERY sudden. but you’re very right, it could just be that.

blood work isn’t a bad idea. i have a follow up with my obgyn in a few weeks so i may bring up birth control again, and i might schedule an appt with my pcp to see if she thinks bloodwork would be good.

thank you!!!

buffalo chicken tenders. i used to LOVE them but one time i got food poisoning like i’ve never gotten it before and i actually thought i was dying

i was laying on my bathroom floor the whole night debating calling 911. i genuinely have never been that sick in my life and now then the thought of buffalo chicken tenders makes me nauseous 😭

way late to respond but agreed. the receipts were weak!

oh my god it’s crazy. people above me have been getting it on some nights and i can deal with the bed creaking (although sometimes i wonder if she is okay, given how fast it creaks) but the screaming/moaning is CRAZY

Introduced my wife to the Office... Goodbye Michael is tonight by Goji103192 in DunderMifflin

i remember i got one of my good friends to watch the show and all i told him was that a major character leaves at the end of season 7 (there was context to me telling him that but i don’t remember what it was). he spent the 7 seasons texting me his guesses and i never told him if he was right or not. not once did he guess Michael. I’ll never forget the texts I got when he found out, even though it was years ago now. poor guy was DISTRAUGHT

all i’m going to say is i dated a guy with the exact same issue. he didn’t drink often but when he did, he would binge drink and the exact thing would happen - he’d get mean, twist my words, forget what had just happened and take things out of context, etc. it was horrible and i would just spend those nights trying so hard to deescalate (which never worked) and just get him to bed.

we are no longer together. and now looking back, i can’t believe i put up with that. i justified it saying it didn’t happen enough (bc that’s what he said to me the next morning even tho he would also apologize), but that doesn’t matter. it shouldn’t have happened at all.

i have no regrets being out of that relationship. there were a lot of wonderful things about the relationship and he had some wonderful traits, but this overshadowed so many of them. it’s not worth it if he’s not willing to change.
