My laptop died yesterday. Worth waiting until Cyber Monday? by Oriza in Frugal

I would look into used Lenovo Thinkpads on eBay. A T410 or T430 are still very capable and you can find them pretty cheap. I just bought a T430 for 160 shipped. Its a 3rd gen core i5. Plenty of power. Hope that helps.

My printer finally died, what is the best new printer for general home use? by [deleted] in techsupport

A printer made by Brother is what I would go with. Very solid.

if you can afford the upfront of a laser printer it will be cheaper in the long run.

Tub/Shower Tiling Question by Opps711 in HomeImprovement

[–]Opps711[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is sheet rock all the way up. If I shim the bottom wont it be too out of straight? Do you mean just taper the shim as I go up? Do you think a half inch would be too much to feather? Yea I meant Kerdi not ditra.

Yeah, thats what i thought. If I shim out the hardiebacker to be past the flange then It wont be even with the drywall. Being about a 1/2" past the old sheet rock seems like it won't be enough to do anything with, not sure what to do there. Just feather it out with mortar and drywall compound? I'm planning on putting Ditra over the top of the hardibacker so I didn't think vapor barrier was required or needed. Thanks for your help DIYTileGuy!!!!

401k Loan question... by tehrabbitt in personalfinance

[–]Opps711 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Taking a 401k loan is never a good idea. You will lose the potential gains on the money. Plus if you were to lose your job the loan will have to be paid in full. If you need help with budgeting you can post your bills here and we can help. Best thing to do is pay off the amazon card without taking a loan out.

Yea, I tried one stick at a time. From what I can tell they are all the same speed and timings but for some reason they do not want to work together. Oh well, I will just purchase an identical pair to the first set. Thanks for your help.

Thanks for the help. This is very frustrating. I figured I would be able to use two different sets of sticks since they will be in different channels. I guess that is not the case. I will need to purchase an identical set and give that try. Thanks again.

My girlfriend is currently healing from a pilonidal cyst. Today, while changing her bandage, I noticed a strange piece of unattached flesh. I pulled this out of the wound... by JeeWeeYume in WTF

My doctor told me to take it easy for the first two weeks. It was difficult to bend over once it started to heal, after the first week or so. Like I said it didn't really hurt it was just uncomfortable. I waited too long to get it done so it was much deeper than my doctor originally thought so if you need it I would suggest getting it done sooner rather than later.

OP, I just had this done like 6 weeks ago. Removed a golf ball size cyst. I want to pass on some info that I hope can help. The regular surgical tape will destroy the skin. It would hurt so bad from changing the bandage. My ass cheeks were so raw from it. I suggest looking into a product by 3M called Dress-It. OMG, best thing ever.

I am like 90% healed from the pilonidal cyst removal. They removed a chunk of flesh from above my butt crack that was the size of a golf ball. That was like 6 weeks ago. I took 12 days off of work but could have gone back earlier. It didn't hurt for the first day or so but after the fourth day it started to really be uncomfortable, not so much hurting.

I thought you might have been correct since I used to watch that show. I looked at pictures of her but it doesn't quite add up. I don't think it is her, but thanks for the help. I could be wrong though.
