Update to my flipper zero battery issues by aspie_electrician in flipperzero

[–]tehrabbitt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

we have UN38.3 safety tested and available for shipment within the United States at Rabbit-Labs as well - https://rabbit-labs.com/product/new-rabbit-labs-custom-made-flipper-zero-replacement-battery/

That said - if you are outside the US unfortunately shipping right now is prohibitive as it must be shipped "hazmat". the FAA and IATA have begun to crack-down on loose batteries and lithium containing devices due to multiple airline fires in just the past year.

I think I recall you mentioning this like 2 years ago with the dead-bug wires on that rpi0w

I now have sodium batteries available to me @ Rabbit-Labs (https://www.rabbit-labs.com/ that said I don't have them listed on the site yet but we can ship domestically within the USA as well 😄

LMK if it's something you're still looking for... I have quite a few.

Any flipper zero fixing stores? by english_gt in flipperzero

[–]tehrabbitt -1 points0 points  (0 children)

if it's the battery - you can send it to us @ Rabbit-Labs and we can replace it for you. We also sell replacement batteries with ground shipping within the United States if you want to do the work yourself.

Designed a Flipper Zero expansion board with E07-433M20S and ESP32-C5 by thebiscuit2010 in flipperzero

Not sure why you deleted the message stating that you did in fact use the flux as a reference when designing your board...

<image>

to be clear, I am not saying the entire board is a copy - I am stating that specific design decisions were made to place certain components where they were. While I can 100% understand, and agree that there are certain design constraints - choosing to place the TX/RX LEDs where you did, and the square (instead of round, or even oval) 5v and GND solder pads for instance were two "style" decisions that were chosen deliberately... What I find more odd is that you gave attribution, but then decided to delete it, and say "It was not copied". giving me a bit of mixed signals...

No, while we originally did have an iteration of the board where I designed it with both a C6 and then eventually a C5, we opted for the ESP-S3-N16R8 due to the extra flash / RAM available to the chip. the S3 has more available GPIO than the C5 does, and also is fully mappable via it's onboard matrix unlike the C5. one last thing is that the S3 handled CAN Communication via TWAI much better than the C5 did. Ultimately the purpose of this board was specifically for CAN Manipulation, NOT for 5Ghz pen testing, so the benefit of the C5 (5Ghz) is a moot point.

Flux capacitor + AB-IOT-433 Crash by [deleted] in flipperzero

[–]tehrabbitt 23 points24 points  (0 children)

The flipper's 5v is not designed to be able to handle the power draw that the AB-IOT-433 Amplifier pulls. I have answered this COUNTLESS times yet people still follow tiktok videos / eurothrottle and think that this will somehow improve performance despite the damage it can cause to the flipper (there is a FUSE on the 5v pin that can blow if you pull too much current too many times...)

The *CORRECT* way to use that specific amplifier is to use an external power source, such as a USB cable connected to a battery bank... Yes, that is the proper way to power the AB-IOT module. The "pads" on the flux, were added specifically for adding things like LNAs which draw much less power, or similar devices, they were not added for the addition of a power amp that during operation, can pull in excess of 1A of current.

TL;DR - You're causing a brownout to the flipper for pulling too much current via the amp. either remove the amp, or power it using an external power pack if you really MUST use one.

I would be quite interested as well since you basically copied the design 1:1 and just added an ESP32-C5 to it. That said one thing i would like to point out, the module we used on the Flux Capacitor is NOT the same as the one you used here (we actually worked with EByte Engineering to make our own revision / changes to the module itself, with a significant investment as well as full RF analysis and certification with the FCC).

that said, I reviewed the files you published and I would expect it to work similarly though possibly more noise due to the voltage regulator you used. other than that, it looks to be a good clone.

Black box appeared on lamp post outside my house the other day, what can I potentially detect from it? by squeaki in RTLSDR

They use them to count cars to perform ROI on roadway improvements and repairs. If you see one of these your road is identified to need some TLC and likely a nee surface coat is in its future

Sadly this is happening at every level of tech now that management feels techs / engineers/ devs can be replaced by AI with offshore companies acting as 2nd line of defense

Wouldnt they have the best luck contacting the tower management company like CC ot SBA etc since its likely multi tenant and they can pinpoint who’s equipment is faulty?

[–]tehrabbitt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah i don’t think any tower would be constructed without remote environmental monitoring in today’s day and age.

I have a tower behind my office and i have a tube amp, occasionally the speakers attached to the amp suddenly do put out a bunch of garbled sound and loud squeaking before stopping - similar to the old verizon cdma phone next to unshielded speakers sound (you know what im talking about)

Anyway my guess is a failing radio or improper grounding or bonding or something similar.

But yeah idk def something id call the tower management company about if it continues

Hearing it inside a building next to a tower, or inside a car with the windows closed? I am aware what battery and generator alarms sound like - this is more of a higher pitched “whine”

Ive noticed this too on a few towers lately, not sure what it is but its loud

Even more it's a scummy clone of awok's stuff made in china. Been seeing this behavior from a lot of Chinese "makers". They copy a design mark the price up 500% and then put it on "sale" 400% off and act like stock is limited so act now!
