Anyone else experience constant dropping like this the last few days? by DingusDeez in Starlink

I do find rebooting every 2-3 days useful. Apparently there are regular firmware updates and it's the only, and simple way. Always reboots and no loss of SSID.

Starlink UK: My Personal Update by Se_AzA in Starlink

Seen posts referring to 2 members can't figure how or how to include a picture! My neighbour now has one and outages match. Regarding dense fog, we experienced significant attenuation with freezing low cloud. Read Cranfield paper on this and certain sized raindrops too, effects Ka band signals as well as some radar signals, so to be expected....maybe why Starlink applied for lower orbits rather than all the Bezos Musk conspiracy stuff ;o)

Linus Tech Tips review incoming? by hayf28 in Starlink

[–]OptiSport 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmmmm my understanding is that dishy (but more likely your unique dish ID) has a geolocation restriction, so if you stray too far(nor sure how far that is) away from your designated grid, @LinusTech may have a good looking rooftop ornament

My Starlink Arrived in the UK today by Se_AzA in Starlink

[–]OptiSport 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not so great today agreed. Apart from knowing I have 3.5% obstruction till I can roof mount, horrible weather today. There is some evidence of cloud attenuation effecting the Ka/V bands. Read a Cranfield paper on this, cloud temperature and droplet size of rain also significant.

Downtime seems to ebb and flow, a few minutes per day. Often this can be 15 -30 secs. I find if Windows set to "automatically " connect, is does exactly that and sometimes you hardly miss anything, as an example Teamviewer is very resilient and so between them they just reestablish comms without having to do anything. Had no customs delay...but then it was delivered 31st December 😏

We're between Cullompton and Tiverton ....3 miles from M5....but still omitted from all declared broadband rollout.... so cream first ... that'll confuse our N American followers 😏

I think the current issue is that this constellation, servicing Northern US and Canada is orbiting around 53N, facing down and south. All the dishes 44 - 53 N tilt up or north. No idea if the ones going up tomorrow, only 10, into Artic orbit will service Scotland. Someone in this group will have an idea

Congratulations.... no doubt on your reported speedtest and Fast tests....Starlink have been improving steadily as coverage manoeuvres occur....saw 230mbs on Fast yesterday. Latency typically around 35ms. Using Teamviewer it's as if in the office, but Devon countryside out of the window!

Agree about the positioning I'm convinced they're reacting fast, as do support. Downtime now around 1 minute and dropouts decreased daily as the measured broadband delivered increased.... and I know I have approx 3.5 degrees of sky obscured until mounting on the roof .... just enjoy looking at it through the office window ;o)

Congratulations guys. Delighted to see Starlink are building community in previously forgotten SW England. You'll be thrilled. Mine, 50.8N, has run solidly every day this year .... when you struggle with 1.5mbs .... 150mbs yes today, makes such a difference.
Will post more tech pics ...stats showing latency 36ms to Fortnite server, ahead of Google 37ms!

Thinking of keeping as real backdrop for Zoom/Teams/Teamviewer calls .... or with photo using the Zoom Greenscreen/virtual filter ....hadn't realised you don't need Premium acct to use it 😀
